Thanksgiving Cocktails and Bond's Drink of Choice

Comments (0) |

What does James Bond drink in the new movie "Quantum of Solace"? Same thing he drank in "Casino Royale," according to cocktails.about.com. The Vesper Martini is a special creation from Ian Fleming and his quixotic super-spy, which includes:

"Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?"
- "Casino Royale," Chapter 7

Gordon's is the gin, and Kina Lillet is a dry French vermouth. The story goes that Bond named the drink the Vesper after his love interest in the novel. Either way, if you want to chat up Daniel Craig, this is a good route to take.

And, of course, Thursday marks that traditional American holiday involving eating and drinking a much as humanly possible. To aptly round out the celebration, you can find food and drink pairing suggestions, such as what type of beer or wine goes best with turkey or pumpkin pie, at cocktails.about.com. This is of course dependant on whether you have room for anything other than turkey and stuffing.

Enjoy the holiday season, football and day off in the middle of the week. Salud!
