UAA Ranked No. 19

Comments (0) |

Fresh off a series split with the nation's third-ranked team, the UAA Seawolves today racked the No. 19 ranking in the latest USCHO.com/CBS Sports Poll.

UAA beat Colorado College 4-2 on Friday and lost 4-3 in overtime on Saturday. The Seawolves are 7-5-2 overall and 4-4-2 (sixth) in the 10-team Western Collegiate Hockey Association entering their idle weekend. They next play at Wisconsin in two weeks to end the first half before the holiday break.

It's been a remarkable transformation for the Seawolves, who last season went just 7-21-8 overall and finished last in the WCHA at 3-19-6.

And this ranking is legit, unlike the Seawolves' last ranking, which didn't pass the smell test.

In November 2006, the Seawolves were ranked No. 15 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll, but there were indications either voters or tabulators were confusing UAA with UAF, which then was ranked No. 15 in the USCHO Poll.
