A snow machine hit a dog sled on a trail outside Kotzebue Wednesday night, killing an Anchorage physician, according to state troopers. Troopers said there were indications the snow machine driver had been drinking. Dispatch is below.

appear in court and released at the scene.

Text: On 11/19/2008, at approximately 1630 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a Burglary in the area of Edsulu Street in Big Lake.
Investigation revealed entry was forced into the residence. Digital
equipment, $2,900.00, and several prescription medications were taken
from the residence. The estimated value of the items is $3,142.00.
Damage to the door was estimated at $150.00. Anyone with information is

Text: On 11/20/08 at approximately 0241 hours the AST South Central DUI
Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near the intersection of the Parks
Hwy. and Alpine St. in Wasilla for an equipment violation. The operator
was identified as Cameron F. Olson, age 24, of Houston. Olson was found
to be operating the vehicle with a revoked drivers license. Olson was

passengers in the vehicle were found to be in possession of marijuana.

Plaza in Wasilla for a moving violation. Two passengers in the vehicle
were found to have outstanding warrants for their arrest. Wayne L.
Olszak, age 31 of Wasilla was arrested for a $500.00 misdemeanor warrant
for operating a vehicle with no insurance. Glen E. Lukas II, age 22, of
Wasilla was arrested for a $500.00 misdemeanor warrant for Misconduct
involving a Controlled Substance. Both were remanded to the Mat-Su
Pretrial facility.

Text: On 11/19/08 at 2345 hours, AST received a report from village
police in Akiak of a possible attempted sexual assault in Akiak. The
investigation revealed that shortly prior to the report, a male
acquaintance was invited into the room of the female victim but once
inside, the male suspect, who was intoxicated, attempted to sexually
assault the female. The suspect was unsuccessful with his attempt to
carry out his assault and left the residence when ordered by the owner
of the residence. The investigation is continuing.

Text:On 11/14/08 at approximately 1530 hours, Aniak AST responded to a
residence for a disturbance. While investigating the disturbance, an
intoxicated male was found on the snowmachine trail. The male was
brought to the Aniak Post where a PBT showed a BrAC of .315. The
subject was a resident of Kalskag, and efforts at locating family
members who were willing to care for him met with negative results. The
subject was placed into protective custody and held at the Aniak Post
for approximately 14 hours, at which point he was released.

Type: On 11/19/08, approx. 2107 hrs, State Troopers in Kotzebue were
notified of a collision involving a snowmachine and a dog sled team at
approx. 3.4 miles NE of Kotzebue. Investigation revealed that two
individuals were on a dog sled when it was hit by a snowmachine as they
were traveling away from Kotzebue. The snowmachine was driven by Patrick
Tickett, age 20. Tickett was transporting Clarissa Cleveland, age 20,
to Noorvik on an established trail when he struck the dogsled. The two
occupants of the dog sled sustained serious injuries as a result of the
collision and were unable to move. Tickett attempted to drive back to
Kotzebue for help, but the snowmachine's belt was broken. Tickett and
Cleveland set off on foot to Kotzebue and were shortly picked up by an
unidentified snowmachiner who transported them the rest of the way to
Kotzebue where they notified the Kotzebue Police Department. Roger E.
Gollub, age 53, of Anchorage was driving the dog sled at the time of the
collision. Gollub died as a result of his injuries sustained in the
collision. The other victim was indentified as Tracy B. Schaeffer, age
39. She was a passenger in the dog sled. Schaeffer was medivaced to
Providence hospital to be treated for her injuries. Next of Kin has been
notified and investigation is continuing. Alcohol was involved with this
incident.

Text: On 11/14/08, at 1720 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the
Pilot Station Health Clinic for an unsuspected death. Subsequent
investigation revealed that Patrick N.Edwards, 73 of Pilot Station had
passed away of natural causes after a brief illness. Next of kin were
on hand and the State Medical Examiners Office was notified. Interment
for Edwards will be held at the Pilot Station cemetery.

Text: On 11-19-08 VPO Ron Ivanoff of Akiak received information that an
adult female was assaulted in Akiak. Investigation by VPO Ivanoff and
AST revealed that Nelson C. Jackson, 37 committed the assault while
intoxicated. Further Jackson had imported one bottle of R&R Whiskey into
Akiak. Akiak having voted to Ban the Sale and Importation of Alcohol.
Jackson was arrested and charged with one count of Assault Fourth
Degree, D.V. and Importation of Alcohol. Jackson was transported to
Bethel and lodged at YKCC.

Text: On 11/14/08, at 0211 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a
report of a overdue snow machine in Mountain Village. Subsequent
investigation revealed that Shaun Ricco Agwaik, 22 of Mountain Village
had left the village at 1200 hours on 11/13/08 and had failed to return.
Initial efforts to locate Agwiak were unsuccessful.
On 11/14/08, at 0945 hours, Alaska State Troopers enlisted state
aircraft and Mountain Village search and rescue members to locate
Agwiak. On 11/14/08, at 1220 hours, Agwiak was located 14 miles SW of
Mountain Village. Agwiak was transported in state aircraft to Mountain
Village where he was treated for dehydration, hypothermia and frostbite.
Agwiak was later medivacced to the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Center in
Bethel for further treatment.

Text: On 11-20-08 at approximately 0815 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report that a defendant in an Domestic Violence Assault case
was contacting the victims via telephone from Anchorage. AST contacted
one of the victims and confirmed that the defendant had contacted them
on numerous occasions and was asking them not to testify in the court
case. The court specifically ordered no contact between the defendant
and victims when the defendant was charged with the assault in October
2008. The investigation into this case is continuing and the names of
the persons involved and the locations of the incident are being
withheld until the investigation is complete.

Text: On 11/19/08 Alaska State Troopers investigated several incidents
at the Quinhagak School in Quinhagak involving a juvenile student.

emails and letters threatening physical injury and death to other
students and started a fire in a school trash can, a couple of weeks

Text: On 11/19/08, Alaska Wildlife Troopers summoned Arnold A. Hamilton
age 59, of Shageluk, for Transporting Big Game Hunters without a License
and Representing as a Licensed Transporter. The charges stem from an
investigation in September 2008 where Hamilton was found to have
transported several non-resident moose hunters for compensation on the
Innoko River. Arraignment is set for 12/10/08 in Aniak court.

Type: Sport Fish Unlawful Methods - Illegal Long Line Gear
Text: On 11-7-08 Alaska Wildlife Troopers on board the PV Enforcer
contacted the FV Chelsea K outside of the Sukoi Islets at it worked long
line gear. Investigation showed the operator Steven T. Davis, age 48 of
Petersburg, AK and Ronald A. Skeens, age 50, of Winner, SD were sport
fishing for halibut by setting approximately 300 baited hooks, to a long
line with intentions to retain the halibut for a home pack. At the time
of contact they had 18 halibut on board the vessel. The use of a long
line with more than 2 hooks is prohibited in the taking of halibut.
Davis and Skeens were issued summonses for the illegal gear and given an
arraignment date of December 18, 2008 at 1000 hours in the Petersburg
District Court. The halibut were seized and donated to a local charity.

Type: Improper Bio-Degradable Escape Mechanism Personal Use Shrimp Pot
Text: On 11-13-08, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on board the PV Enforcer
issued Steven M. Kristovich, age 47, of Sitka a citation for operating a
personal use shrimp pot with an improper bio-degradable escape
mechanism. Kristovich was contacted with a shrimp pot that was secured
with bio-degradable cotton larger than 30 count thread. Kristovich was
issued a $110 bailable citation with an optional arraignment in the
Sitka District Court.

Type: Take Sub-Legal Sheep
Text: On 11-19-08, 54 year old Robert D. Bostater of Hicksville, OH pled
Guilty to one count of taking or assisting in the take of a Dall Sheep.
The charge was the result of an investigation which showed that Bostater
had instructed his client to shoot a Dall Sheep which was less than full
curl.
Bostater was fined $4,000 with $2,000 suspended and was placed on
probation for one year.

Text: On 11-19-08, Investigators with the Alaska Bureau of Alcohol and
Drug Enforcement contacted a 25 year old female from Gambell regarding a
mail parcel addressed to her. The investigation revealed there to be

Text: On 11-19-08, Investigators with the Alaska Bureau of Alcohol and
Drug Enforcement contacted a 44 year old woman in Nuiqsut regarding a
mail parcel addressed to two minor children in her custody.
Investigation determined that the woman's daughter who lives in Hawaii
mailed four 1.75 liter bottles of whisky and six 50 ml bottles of whisky
to her mother. Nuiqsut is a local option community where the sale,
importation and possession of alcohol are banned. The investigation
continues.

Text: On 11-19-08, Investigators with the Alaska Bureau of Alcohol and
Drug Enforcement contacted a 44 year old female from Savoonga regarding
a mail parcel addressed to her. The investigation revealed the female
ordered marijuana which was located inside the mail parcel. A portion
of the marijuana was packaged to be sold, the investigation continues.
