Minard's Streak Is Sweet, But Check Out These Former Streakers

Former Alaska Aces sniper Chris Minard furnished one goal and one assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-3 loss Sunday to Syracuse, which extended Minard's points streak to an American Hockey League season-best 14 games -- or every AHL game he has played this season.
Minard, who played two NHL games for Pittsburgh earlier this season, owns 14-10--24 AHL totals and a +10 rating in his streak, and he leads the league in goals and is tied for second in points.
But while a 14-game streak is impressive, he's got a long way to go to even sniff the AHL record. So let's check out that mark, and a couple of other points-streak records in pro leagues.
In the AHL, Chicago Wolves forward Darren Haydar started the 2006-07 season by providing at least one point in a league-record 39 straight games. He put up 24-56--80 points in that span on the way to a 122-point season in 73 games.
At the ECHL level, forward Trevor Jobe -- really hardcore puckheads might remember he played 13 games for the old Anchorage Aces in 2001-02 -- in the 1992-93 season furnished the Nashville Knights with a 38-game points streak in which he racked 112 points. He finished with 161 points in 61 games.
Click on Jobe's name above and link to his career stats, which are fascinating on a number of fronts, not the least of which that in 17 seasons he played for 33 teams in 12 different leagues.
Oh, and since we're speaking of streaks, some dude named Gretzky in 1983-84 scored at least one point in 51 consecutive NHL games, racking 61-92--153 totals in that span on the way to a 205-point season in 74 games.
