iPhone by AppleI am getting a little App Happy on my iPhone but have found some really useful applications at the iPhone Apps Store for free or really cheap. Of course "useful" is in the eye of the beholder, however, I'm sure you'll agree that some of these applications are providing a service that could save you time or help you do something more efficiently.
Here's a run down of some of the apps I'm using lately on my iPhone:
Milog - I've been needing to fill out a log for my car for business accounting purposes but keep forgetting to write in my car log. Having it handy on my iPhone seems a lot more compelling to keep track of my mileage.
CheckPlease - When I'm out with business colleagues or friends, there is nothing more complex than splitting the bill equitably and getting the tip right. This handy app can split the tab multiple ways with just a few finger taps. And you can even choose an option were you don't end up paying tip on the tax.
Movies - Finally I have local movie listings - yes, for Anchorage movie theatres - with me wherever I go. Flixster, the movies social networking site, recently purchased this app from the developer.
i.TV - And for those rare occasions that I watch a little television, I have my local TV listings in my area to know when to tune in to Boston Legal, Bones or House. i.TV also recently added Netflix. By programmer Brad Pelo.
Take Me To My Car - Yes, I recently "lost" my car in downtown Anchorage. I could have sworn I knew where I parked and even made a few mental notations of landmarks. But when I returned to my car after a meeting, it was "gone." After my initial panic, I retraced my steps until I could recognize landmarks. If I had set my iPhone GPS to my car location with this app, I would have had walking directions back to my vehicle. Good for next time!
Units - I'm always wondering about converting different units of measurement, especially Farenheit to Celsius or feet to meters. Nice to have these conversions instantly available to me at any time. Search for the free app created by Alex Price in the iTunes Apps Store.
Checkbook - I'm using this app to have a digital version of my check register handy at all times to enter transactions as they happen. I tend to forget to do it in the paper register but am feeling much more compelled to do it on my handheld.
CashFlow Free - Keeping tabs on my cash flow is always a challenge so I can now enter things I'm spending money on and get a better grasp on whether or not I'm getting some of my compulsive spending under control.
What are YOUR favorite iPhone apps?
