Comments (0) |

Shattuck St. Mary’s in Faribault, Minn., has been turning out some of the nation's best young hockey players for years now, and this season at least eight skaters from Anchorage -- six boys and two girls -- are playing on various Sabres teams.

(And, hey puckheads, if I've missed someone in the list below, holler to dwoody@adn.com.)

On the girls front, senior forward Jessica Cohen is tearing it up for the prep team with 20-37--57 totals in 23 games to rank third on the club in goals, second in assists and second in points.

On the U-16 team, freshman forward Aimee Rupp of Anchorage owns 2-5--7 totals in 19 games.

Sophomore forward Tanner Sorenson of Anchorage, playing on the boys U-16 team, has furnished 14-10--24 totals in 15 games to rank tied for second in goals and third in points. Teammate Bryan Sinz, a sophomore defenseman, has 0-5--5 totals in 15 games.

On the boys prep team, defenseman Nathan Sinz, studying in a post-graduate year, owns 2-4--6 totals in 19 games.

The boys bantam Tier I team features three guys from Anchorage. Freshman forward Ryan Schwalbe ranks first on the team in points and second in goals with 12-9--21 totals in 21 games. Freshman forward Hunter Fejes has produced 6-11--17 totals in 21 games. And defenseman Truman Reed, an eighth-grader, has chipped in 1-6--7 totals in 21 games.
