We’re still getting lots of mail from the Lower 48 about Sarah Palin. It’s running about 50-50 for and against her. We don’t plan to devote much print edition space to these letters, so I’m posting some highlights here.

Gary Priester
Placitas, N.M.

While we know that being a Republican means never having to admit you were wrong, it is time for you to stop blaming everyone and every thing for your loss in this election. It was as much your fault as anyone's ....

Sheila Austin from Savannah Georgia writes:

I am a Christian, most of my friends are Christians. We all were praying for McCain/Palin. If Sarah Palin runs in 2012, we will all vote for her.
She's God sent!
We love her!

From Joe Hannigan,
Pagosa Springs, Colo.:

I understand Sarah Palin is very disappointed with those who spread rumors, gossip and innuendo regarding her campaign performance, saying "That's cruel. It's mean-spirited. It's immature. . . . It's not fair and not right."

I seem to recall Sarah Palin did the same thing with her "lipstick-wearing pit bull" attacks on President-elect Obama. Might this be just desserts?

John Bloom, Elrama, Pa., expressed a common pro-Sarah sentiment:

I'd like to thank the residents of Alaska for "borrowing" your Governor for a few months, you surely are a blessed state with such a fine Lady as your Governor.

To Governor Palin, I would like to tell her that her efforts were not in vain, though your ticket didn't win the state, because you do "Have a Friend in Pennsylvania" (Our State Motto), quite a few of them I might add.

P.E. Rich from Los Angeles wrote:

The GOP treatment of Gov Sarah Palin since the election is a condensed version of what they have done to the country over the past 8 years. We would feel more compassion for the Governor had she not encouraged rage, hatred and death threats against Barack Obama. Hopefully, this bright, albeit misguided woman, will learn to use her voice and lead with more wisdom.
