The Alaska Aces have placed veteran defenseman Ed Hill on the 30-day injured reserve list after he suffered a knee injury that won't require surgery but will need several weeks of rehabilitation.
Coach Keith McCambridge said Hill suffered a tear to the medial collateral ligament in last Saturday's 2-1 win at Idaho when defensive partner Corbin Schmidt delivered a hip check on a Steelheads skater, who then rolled into Hill's knee.
Defenseman Lee Green (shoulder), meanwhile, is day-to-day. Hill's injury moves rookie Mike Gauthier up in the rotation, and he could play this weekend against Utah if Green is unable to go.
Hill joins winger Bo Cheesman on the 30-day IR. Cheesman is still recovering from preseason back surgery.
Also day-to-day is winger Brett Hemingway, who last Friday required six stitches to close a cut on his ankle.
