Birth & Beginnings: childbirth conversations

Hello mothers and mothers-to-be! This blog focuses on pregnancy, childbirth, children, and parenting. Along with providing helpful information and resources, it is also a place to discuss choices and trends in these areas. The blog will inform and encourage mothers as we share and learn from each other. It is not a place to say that one opinion is better than another; instead it is a forum for camaraderie and for sharing personal experiences. So feel free to read, respond, and absorb information on a daily basis as together we traverse this world of motherhood.

Childbirth/Parenting Blog Discussion

Comments (0) |

Well, just a note to say... I didn't abandon the blog. I have been out of state for a week and thought I might have time to blog while on vacation with family. What was I thinking? Traveling with two children under the age of three is not only time consuming, but also requires that every fraction of stregth go directly to the daily activities that we had planned. Therefore, no free time to sit back and blog. So sorry.

However, I did have some interesting birth related conversations with others. Here are a few highlights:

Nursing in public (especially airplanes) continues to be an issue for some people. Flexibility is a must with toddlers and infants, and there are certain times when it's okay to stop life for a moment and just be 100% mom for your child who is having a hard time. The success rate of VBACs needs to be talked about more. Mothers in the U.S.A. struggle with childbirth fears even if it is not there first baby (more so, if they had an earlier traumatic birth experience). Providers and birth practices need to be evaluated in depth prior to birthing at the facilty. Your birth team will make a difference. Women are unique and amazing, they hold an indescrible amount of responsibilty and love in their hands as they walk the path of motherhood.

Please comment on any childbirth/parenting topics that you think ought to be discussed more.
