Wasilla Police Department employees association picks Rupright

From Mat-Su reporter Rindi White:
Wasilla Police Sergeant Craig Robinson said Friday his association is backing Verne Rupright as its favored candidate going into the Tuesday mayoral runoff.
Robinson said Rupright and opponent Marty Metiva agreed to be interviewed by association members last week.
“We had a series of questions. We felt he (Rupright) was the best informed about the issues facing the city and the police department,” Robinson said.
The employees association is made up of about 50 city employees including officers, dispatchers and administrative staff. The group is not contributing to Rupright’s campaign monetarily, but Robinson said its members are going door to door in Wasilla on his behalf.
Rupright has also received donations from several union groups, including the International Union of Operating Engineers 302, which represents city public works department employees, and the Alaska Laborers Local 341, which is in contract negotiations with the city to represent Wasilla public works employees.
