NHL $alaries: What The Big Boys Make

Comments (0) |

With the NHL season upon us, let's check to see how our Alaska-connected players are making ends meet.

Here are the 2008-09 salaries for those guys, from highest to lowest, courtesy of the NHL Players’ Association:

New York Rangers center Scott Gomez of Anchorage: $8,000,000.

Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Matt Carle of Anchorage: $2,950,000.

Former UAA Seawolves and current Calgary Flames winger Curtis Glencross: $1,200,000.

Former UAF Nanooks and current Rangers winger Aaron Voros: $1,200,000.

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ty Conklin of Anchorage: $750,000.

Rangers center Brandon Dubinsky of Anchorage: $635,000 (and due for a big raise on his next deal -- this is the last year of his three-year entry contract, and, given his excellent rookie campaign last season and signs he'll be even more productive this season, it's hard to imagine New York not wanting to lock him up with a lucrative long-term deal).

Former UAF and current Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Jordan Hendry: $600,000.

Former Alaska Aces and current St. Louis Blues forward D.J. King: $550,000.

Colorado Avalanche winger Scott Parker of Eagle River: $500,000.

New York Islanders center Nate Thompson of Anchorage: $500,000.
