A fisherman who dumped about $21,000 worth of freon trying to disable his ship's refrigeration system, then threatened the skipper and forced him to set sail for Dutch Harbor, is facing charges of assault and criminal mischief, troopers said. See the dispatch out of Unimak Pass.

Type: SAR

Text: On 9-7-08 at 2144 hours AST in Palmer received a cell phone call
from Brett Dykema, age 20, of Elmendorf AFB reporting he, William
Kadisch, age 20, of Elmendorf and Cory Drent, age 20, of Elmendorf were
hunting and lost in the Jim Creek area. AST and AWT Troopers responded
to the area and subsequently located all 3 subjects approximately 2
miles from their vehicle after a short 4 wheeler patrol. No one in the
party reported any injuries. All 3 subjects were transported back to
their vehicle.

Location: Wasilla

Type: MVC-D
Text: On 9-8-2008 at approximately 1526 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to report of a two vehicle collision on Knik Goosebay Road
near S. Binnacle in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Dion Conrad
age 40 of Wasilla, was traveling east on Knik Gooesbay Road in his 1994
Ford Ranger pickup and was stopped waiting on the vehicles in front of
him that had stopped. Agim Delolli age 40 of Wasilla, was traveling
east on Knik Gooesbay Road in his 2001 GMC Sierra pickup, when he
collided into the rear of Conrade's vehicle. Conrade's vehicle
sustained approximately $4500.00 in damage. Delolli's vehicle sustained
approximately $2000.00 in damage. Both parties reported wearing their
seatbelts at the time of the collision. Delolli was issued a citation
for failure to exercise due care to avoid collision. No injuries were
reported.

Text: On 09-07-2008 at approximately 1441 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a report of an after the fact assault at a residence on
Crazy Pearson's Road in Wasilla. Investigation revealed William Hartman
III, age 25 of Wasilla, physically assaulted his girlfriend and damaged
some items in their residence. Hartman III was arrested for both DV
Assault IV and DV Criminal Mischief IV. Hartman was transported to
Mat-Su Pre-Trail where he was remanded and held without bail.

Location: 11.5 Mile Rezanof Drive West, Kodiak

Type: MVC-D Wildlife

Text: On 9-6-08 at approximately 0016 hours AST Kodiak responded to the
scene of a vehicle collision involving a bear. Investigation revealed
that a 24 year old male resident of Kodiak was headed north on Rezanof
Drive West near Mile 11.5 in his 2001 GMC pickup when he collided with a
bear that wandered into the roadway. The bear died as a result of the
collision. The driver, who was wearing his seatbelt, was uninjured. The
vehicle was disabled as a result of the collision and had to be towed
from the scene. Damage is estimated at $3,000.00. Dept. of Fish and
Game personnel responded to the scene and took possession of the bear.

Text: On 9/8/2008 at 0034 hrs, the Fairbanks DUI Enforcement Troopers
stopped a blue 1991 Mazda Car near the intersection of Chena Hot Springs
Road and Nordale Road for multiple equipment and moving violations. Rod
James Carroll, age 45 of Fairbanks, was identified as the driver.
Investigation revealed Carroll was driving the car while impaired by
alcohol. Further investigation revealed Carroll's Alaska driver's
license was revoked, his vehicle was uninsured and he had an outstanding
warrant for his arrest for the original charges of Eluding 1st, DWLR,
DUI and Refusal. Carroll was arrested. He later refused to give a
breath sample for analysis. He was additionally charged with Refusal.
Carroll was remanded at Fairbanks Correctional Center. Bail was set at
$9500.

Involving Weapons 4th
Text: On 9/6/2008 at 0105 hrs, the Fairbanks DUI Enforcement Troopers
attempted to stop a yellow 1981 Ford pickup for multiple traffic
violations on Chena Hot Springs Road. The truck failed to yield and
attempted to elude at high speed. The truck came to a dead end on Chena
Valley View Road and the occupants fled. While investigating, troopers
came in contact with Ryan Hayden Hull, age 21 of Fairbanks. He was
identified as the owner of the truck. Hull was intoxicated, belligerent
and in possession of a loaded handgun. He resisted and was combative
with troopers as they attempted to arrest him and secure his weapon.
Hull was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and
Misconduct Involving Weapons 4th. Bail was set at $2000. The pending
criminal charge of Eluding 1st on Hull is being forwarded to the
District Attorney's Office for review.

Text: On 9/7/2008 at 0327 hrs, the Fairbanks DUI Enforcement Troopers
stopped a green 1990 Ford car on Old Chena Pump Road for an equipment
violation. Marcus Lucas Lambert, age 27 of Fairbanks, was identified as
the driver. Investigation revealed Lambert was driving the car while
impaired by alcohol. He was arrested for DUI and issued multiple
traffic citations. Lambert was remanded at Fairbanks Correctional
Center. Bail was set at $1500.

Text: On 09-07-08 at approximately 2354 hours, Alaska State Troopers
conducted a traffic stop on an orange Dodge pickup truck for a traffic
infraction at Bradway Road and Atigun Street. AST contacted the driver
of the vehicle, David A. SMITH, 41, of Fairbanks. AST investigation
revealed that SMITH was Driving Under the Influence and did not possess
a valid operator's license. SMITH was arrested and remanded at
Fairbanks Correctional Center.

Type: Motor Vehicle Collision - Damage Only
Text: On 9/7/2008 at 1059 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to
the intersection of Badger Road and the Old Richardson Highway for a two
vehicle collision. Investigation revealed Casey Reece, age 16 of North
Pole, was driving his 1995 Chevy S-10 pickup southbound on Badger Road
approaching the intersection with the Old Richardson Highway. Kerry
Wester, age 45 of North Pole, was driving her 2001 Ford Expedition
westbound on the Old Richardson Highway and made a left hand turn
through a green light southbound onto Badger Road. Reece continued
through a red light at the intersection of Badger Road and the Old
Richardson Highway and collided with Wester's vehicle. Both drivers were
wearing seatbelts and no injuries were reported. Damage to Reece's
vehicle estimated at $2,000.00. Damage to Wester's vehicle estimated at
$3,000.00. Reece was cited for failure to stop for a steady red light.

Type: Motor Vehicle Collision with a Moose
Text: On 09/07/08 at 2220 hours, Troopers responded to a motor vehicle
collision involving a moose at mile 295 of the Parks Highway.
Investigation revealed a 1985 Mercedes operated by Warren Hollcraft Jr,
age 47 of Fairbanks, was unable to avoid a moose that ran across the
roadway in front of him. The vehicle was considered a total loss. The
moose was donated to charity. Investigation complete.

Text: On 09/05/08 at 1055 hours, Troopers arrested Robert Anthony Eugene
Bane, age 24 of Fairbanks, for a $30,000.00 Felony DUI Warrant,
Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, Theft
in the Third Degree, Driving With a Revoked Operator's License, Improper
Use of Registration and Violation of Conditions of Release after Bane
fueled his vehicle at a gas station in Fairbanks then fled the area
without rendering payment. Bane was contacted near mile 302 of the
Parks Highway. Bane was transported and remanded to the Fairbanks
Correctional Center for the Felony Warrant, Misconduct Involving a
Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, Theft in the Third Degree,
Driving With a Revoked Operator's License, Improper Use of Registration
and Violation of Conditions of Release. Investigation complete.

Type: Motor Vehicle Collision - Wildlife
Text: On 9/8/08 at 1245 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a
motor vehicle collision at mile 327 of the Richardson Highway.
Investigation revealed Logan Churchwell, age 27 of Tok, was driving his
1997 Mercury Mountaineer northbound on the Richardson highway when a
bull moose ran in front of his vehicle. Churchwell was unable to stop
his vehicle in time before colliding with the moose. Churchwell and his
passengers were wearing seatbelts and no injuries were reported. Damage
to Churchwell's vehicle estimated at $5,000.00. The moose, which had
run onto the roadway after having just been legally shot by a hunter,
was salvaged, and given to the hunter.

Text: On 9/8/08 at 1217 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to
Fred Meyer West Loss Prevention for a shoplifter in custody.
Investigation revealed that Matthew Sidar, age 20 Fairbanks, attempted
to leave the store with $194.28 worth of merchandise that had not been
paid for. Sidar was issued a summons to appear in court.

Text: On 9/8/08 at 1350 hours Alaska State Troopers received a report of
a plane crash at Chena Marina off Dolphin Road. AST responded to an
overturned Taylorcraft BC12 airplane. The pilot, Clifford Stockton, age
58 of Anchorage, reported no injuries. AST investigation is on-going.

Type: MVC-D, Eluding I

Text: On September 7, 2008, at about 2020 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a motor vehicle roll-over in Fairbanks near Steele Creek
Road. It was revealed that a Maroon 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled of
the road way. Nobody occupied the vehicle and nobody was around when
Troopers arrived. While en route to the crash seen, troopers observed a
maroon Nissan Pathfinder with a missing windshield and extensive
frontend damage. Troopers attempted to contact the driver of the
vehicle and the driver eluded the troopers. The Pathfinder was later
found unoccupied in Fox. Investigation continues.

Text: On 9-6-2008, at 1710 hours Alaska State Troopers received a call
from Danny James reporting that someone had smashed through the front
door of a vacant 2405 A. Marie Street and stolen the in-house heater.
The heater was stolen between 8-22-2008 and 8-29-2008. If anyone has
any information regarding this incident, contact the troopers.

Text: On 9/8/08 at about 1430 hours, AST contacted Mona Stoyer, 48, of
Fairbanks when it was learned that she was trespassing on private
property near Airport and University Avenue. Stoyer had four
outstanding $500 warrants for her arrest for failing to appear in court.
She was arrested and transported to FCC, where she was held on $2,000
bail.

Type: Unlawful Possession of Subsistence Shellfish, Over Harvest of
Subsistence Tanner Crab, Undersized Subsistence Tanner Crab

Text: On 7-28-08, Dutch Harbor AWT was contacted by the USCG regarding
an apparent over harvest of subsistence tanner crab discovered onboard
the FV Temptation in Baralof Bay, Unga Island. Investigation revealed
the skipper of the Temptation, Melvin R. Larsen; age 61 of Sand Point
had pulled a subsistence crab pot belonging to an unknown person and
retained at least 106 tanner crabs. Further investigation revealed that
74 of the crab were under the legal size limit of 5=BD". Larsen was
cited $1,630.00 for Over the Daily Bag Limit of Subsistence Tanner Crab
and cited $1,590.00 for Taking Undersized Subsistence Tanner Crab.
Larsen was further summonsed to appear in court for Unlawful Possession
of Subsistence Shellfish with arraignment scheduled for 9/9/08 in the
Valdez District Court.

Text: On 9-5-08, Dutch Harbor AWT responded to a complaint regarding
criminal mischief and an assault aboard the Fishing Vessel Alpine Cove.
Investigation revealed Geoffrey R. Edwards, age 33 of Mountlake Terrace,
Washington, drained approximately $21,000.00 worth of free-on from a
refrigeration system in an attempt to disable the ships freezers.
Edwards further threatened the skipper of the Alpine Cove with a deadly
weapon and forced the skipper to sail back to Dutch Harbor. Edwards was
arrested, transported and remanded to the Unalaska Jail pending
arraignment in Unalaska District Court.

Location: Sheep Mountain

Type: Take Sub-Legal Dall Sheep
Text: On 9-5-08, 43 year old John R. Mackie of Soldotna was charged with
one count of assisting in the take of a sub-legal Dall Sheep. The charge
resulted after Mackie was contacted in the field with a sheep with less
than full curl horns, and only six years of age.
The investigation shows that the sheep was shot by hunting client Hubert
Chatin(also a licensed assistant guide), after Mackie, who was acting as
his guide, instructed him to shoot the sheep. Mackie was working for
Alaska Trophy Hunts at the time the illegal sheep was shot.
The sheep was seized, and arraignment is scheduled in McGrath District
Court on 10-15-08.

Type: Take Sub Legal Dall Sheep
Text: On 9-5-08, 54 year old Robert D. Bostater of Hicksville, OH was
cited for assisting in the take of a sub legal dall sheep. 55 year old
Gary L. Caldwell of Westminster, CO was charged with taking a sub legal
dall sheep. The charges resulted after the two men were contacted in the
field at a spike camp with a dall sheep with 7/8 curl horns and 7 years
of age. The sheep was harvested on 9/4/08 after Bostater, who was acting
as the guide instructed Caldwell to shoot the sheep. Bostater was
guiding for Alaska Trophy Hunts at the time the illegal sheep was taken.

The meat, cape, and hons of the sheep were seized as evidence, and
arraignments were scheduled in McGrath District court.
