Talk Dirt To Me

Do you love to make mud pies, grow a houseplant, eat veggies, or stop to smell the bouquet on your co-workers desk? Everyone enjoys a bit of green growing around him or her and then there are those that are passionate and needy when it comes to dabbling in the dirt. With this blog, we'll try to satisfy those needs and tell you about what's going on with the Anchorage gardening scene. You know, as I finally learned, it's all about the dirt.

Photographer and gardener Fran Durner (fdurner@adn.com) writes the blog.

Dear Gardeners,

I have been struggling to make an inclusive garden event calendar to post to the Talk Dirt Garden Blog every month and in the paper weekly. I could use your help!

If you think this is a worthwhile service for your fellow gardeners, and would like to have your club meeting or event included, please send me information about your event before the end of the month previous to the event. This is YOUR calendar!

Program meetings, lectures, workshops, conventions, classes, seed swaps, plant sales, garden tours, tree tours, nature tours, book talks, weed pulls - you name it! If you think it should be on the garden calendar, please send the info my way. Share your events with your fellow gardeners!

Please make sure you include the DATE and TIME and LOCATION/ADDRESS of meeting/event as well as a PROGRAM TITLE and CONTACT INFO. I'm happy to include anything from Ketchikan to Barrow!

If you have regular monthly meetings through the year - you can send me all the info, all at once and I will hold onto it. You can email me at fdurner@adn.com or gardening@adn.com They both land in my mailbox.

A big THANKS to all of you who have been sending me emails - it really does help and I do appreciate it!! Keep it up!

Remember, if I don't have the info before the month begins, it won't make it onto the calendar but you will be able to post the info yourself in the comment section at the end.

Thanks so much - please let me know if there is anything that can make the calendar and the blog more helpful to you...

Fran
