Talk Dirt To Me

Do you love to make mud pies, grow a houseplant, eat veggies, or stop to smell the bouquet on your co-workers desk? Everyone enjoys a bit of green growing around him or her and then there are those that are passionate and needy when it comes to dabbling in the dirt. With this blog, we'll try to satisfy those needs and tell you about what's going on with the Anchorage gardening scene. You know, as I finally learned, it's all about the dirt.

Photographer and gardener Fran Durner (fdurner@adn.com) writes the blog.

Fran Durner/ADNThis from the original Garden Tart herself, Brooke Heppinstall of WoolWood Gardens: "There's still time to play in the perennial beds and we're having an End of Summer Sale! Lilacs, roses, herbaceous hardy Alaska grown perennials, houseplants, garden art, trellises, birdhouses, Garden Tart teeshirts. Our plants need a happy home and there's plenty of time left to garden. I hope you'll all stop by this Saturday for the end of summer sale!"

The nursery will be open Saturday, Sept. 6, 12 - 6 pm. Directions: Take the Old Glenn out of Palmer toward the Butte. Turn LEFT on Clark-Wolverine. Turn RIGHT at the "T" onto Huntley. Turn LEFT onto Apollo, LEFT onto Jupiter, then watch on the RIGHT for the WoolWood sign.

Happy gardening! Brooke Heppinstall. 746-3606 or woolwood@mtaonline.net
