John DeCaro Is Coming To A Rink Near You (Well, If You Live In Anchorage, That Is)

More than two years have passed since John DeCaro tended the pipes for the UAA Seawolves and Alaska Aces, but the big man could be back at Sullivan Arena as soon as October.

DeCaro, who has won the Central Hockey League's Most Outstanding Goaltender award two seasons running with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (gotta love that handle), has signed with the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers, according to the Shreveport Times. The Times reported DeCaro recently informed Mudbugs coach Scott Muscutt of his Vegas signing.

And wouldn't you know it, those Wranglers open the season in Anchorage against the Aces on Oct. 17-18. Vegas also plays in the Sully in March 6-7-8.

DeCaro, 24, has pretty much conquered the CHL. In the last two seasons, he's merely gone 50-13-7 with a 1.91 goals-against average, .936 save percentage and 13 shutouts. Last season, he bagged a league-record 11 bagels and produced a league-record shutout streak of 265 minutes, 52 seconds, which is only the equivalent of four games and a period-plus of pucks.

After he finished his senior season at UAA in 2006, DeCaro went 1-1-2 for the Aces, with a 2.65 goals-against average and .911 save percentage.
