More commentaries on Sarah Palin

During Alaska's 2006 campaign for governor, Democrat Tony Knowles and independent Andrew Halcro often targeted Sarah Palin. Palin often reminded Halcro that he'd asked her to be his running mate. His response, from this Daily News account:

"When it was Halcro's turn to ask one of his opponents a question during the television debate, he asked Palin where she gets her facts, citing an incorrect statement she made about the price of oil the day before. Palin reminded Halcro, as she has many times before, that he used to ask her to be his running mate.
Halcro, seated next to Palin and Knowles, replied with a back-handed compliment: 'Of the three of us sitting at this table, I think you would make the best lieutenant governor of all.' "

The Palin

in the debates often avoided answering the question like in this case.

This time it was a one line zinger and other times she quoted dead people or used a cliche.

That will not work outside the SOA where many people actually expect answers and not bribe checks.

It continues to disappoint,

however that the many critics of the energy assistance ("bribe" is crudely unfair to those in need) have declined to opt out. Perhaps, Mr. Z. you might have someone phone the PFD folks and ask them for the tally. The seem too busy to deal with a request from a casual caller but perhaps you might have some edge.

I have not, for example, read anywhere of Mr. Halcro having declined to accept one despite his obvious feeling that the program is improper.

Perhaps he would answer a direct question from you?
