Troopers are investigating what appears to be an accidental shooting out of Talkeetna. The man says he was out bird hunting when he bent over and his .22-caliber rifle fired a round into his shoulder. See the dispatch below.

Text: On 3-13-08, Jimmie A. Williams, age 54 of Angoon was charged with
two counts of Harassment in the 2nd degree. The charges stemmed from a
complaint of inappropriate conduct with two small girls. Williams was
given an arraignment date of 3-27-08, in the Angoon District court.

Text: On 8/28/08 at approximately 0830 hours Kelley Nickerson, (43 yoa,
Thorne Bay) of SouthEast Roadbuilders reported to AST a storage facility
near the Coffman Road Project was broken into and a small amount of
explosives was stolen. Nickerson explained the break-in occurred
between July 15 and Aug. 27, 2008. The investigation continues.

Naukati reported to AST his 25 horsepower Nissan outboard boat motor was

stopped a teal 1995 Ford F250 near the intersection of Palmer Wasilla
Highway and North 49th State Street while investigating suspicious
activity in the area. Investigation revealed the Dusten Kirker, age 18
of Palmer, was driving while his license was suspended. Kirker was
summonsed to Palmer Court for DWLS and released.

Text: On 8/28/08 at approximately 0007 hours the AST South Central DUI
Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near mile 8 of Knik Goose Bay Rd.
outside Wasilla for a moving violation. The operator was identified as
Larry E. Jasek, age 39, of Anchorage. Jasek was found to be operating
the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI.
Jasek later refused to provide a sample of his breath for a Datamaster
test and was charged with the additional crime of Refusal to Submit to a
Chemical Test. Jasek was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where
he was held on a $500.00 bail.

Text: On 8/27/08 at approximately 2355 hours, the AST South-Central DUI
Enforcement Team stopped a 1994 Chevrolet pickup near the intersection
of Bogard Road and Main Street, in Wasilla, for a moving violation. The
driver of the vehicle was identified as Kerry L. Sayles, age 39, of
Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Sayles was driving with a
suspended driver's license. Sayles was arrested and transported to the
Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was held on $1,500.00 bail.

Text: On 8/27/2008 at approximately 2015 hrs, the Fairbanks DUI
Enforcement Troopers stopped a brown 1983 Chevrolet Suburban pulling a
large utility trailer on the Parks Highway at Financial Drive in Wasilla
for an equipment violation. David Robert Shuldham JR, age 36 of Palmer,
was identified as a passenger in the Suburban. Investigation revealed
that Shuldham had just stolen the trailer being pulled from a nearby
business and was in the process of selling the trailer to the operator.
Further investigation revealed that Shuldham was in possession of a
small amount of cocaine and some prescription medications not prescribed
to him. Shuldham was arrested for Theft 2nd, Misconduct Involving a
Controlled Substance 4th degree and two counts of Misconduct Involving a
Controlled Substance 5th degree. Shuldham was remanded at Mat-Su
Pretrial Facility. Bail was set at $5000. The trailer, valued at
$1,300.00 and the building materials on the trailer, valued at $600.00,
were returned to the owner.

Type: DUI, MIW Fourth Degree, Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test
Text: On 8-27-08 at approximately 2129 hours, Troopers responded to
mile 86.5 of the Parks Highway for a disturbance. Investigation
revealed that Jesse Doss, age 52 of Willow, had operated his Yamaha ATV
and fired a semi-automatic handgun while under the influence of alcohol.
Doss was arrested for DUI and MIW Fourth Degree. Doss later refused to
provide a breath sample at the Willow AST post. Doss was remanded into
MSPT, where bail was set at $500.

Type: MVC - Damage only
Text: On 8/27/08 at approximately 0704 hours, the AST South Central
DUI Enforcement Team responded to Bogard Rd. near Engstrom Rd. in
Wasilla, for a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles.
Investigation revealed Tesia G. Copeland, age 16, of Wasilla, was
driving her 1999 Ford Taurus eastbound on Bogard Rd. near Engstrom Rd.
when she collided with the rear of a 1998 Ford Escort driven by Shae L.
Bowman, age 16, of Wasilla. Both drivers were reportedly wearing their
seatbelts and were the only occupants in each vehicle. No injuries were
reported. Copeland was issued a citation for Failure to Exercise Due
Care to Avoid a Collision and her vehicle was towed from the scene.
Total damages to both vehicles were estimated at over $2,000.00.

Type: MVC - Injury
Text: On 8/28/08 at approximately 0405 hours, the AST South Central
DUI Enforcement Team responded to mile 34.5 of the Glenn Hwy. in Palmer
for the report of a motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed
Raymond H. Roberts, age 60, of Wasilla, was traveling southbound on the
Glenn Hwy. when he lost control of his vehicle entered the median and
rolled the vehicle several times coming to rest in the northbound lane.
Roberts reported being the only occupant and was wearing his seatbelt at
the time of the collision. Roberts was transported to the Mat-Su
Regional Medical Center for evaluation with minor injuries. Alcohol was
NOT a factor in the collision. Roberts' vehicle was totaled in the
collision.

shattered windshields on the vehicles sometime between 0015 hrs and 1050
hrs on 08/22/08. The total damage is estimated at $600. The case is

responded to a report of a burglary at a residence on W. Beverly Lakes
Rd near Wasilla. The homeowners reported the unknown suspect(s) entered
through an unlocked door to gain entry into the residence sometime
between 0800 -1315 hours on 08/25/08. The value of the jewelry,
electronics, frozen food, and a firearm taken is estimated at $2,500.

Type: Self Inflicted Gun Shot Wound
Text: On 8/28/08 at about 1405 hours AST was notified by the Sunshine
Medical Clinic in Talkeetna that Stephen Wright, 34 of Anchorage had
come in with a gun shot wound to his shoulder. Investigating indicates
that Wright was bird hunting when his 22 cal. rifle discharged as he was
bending down, and he was subsequently shot in the shoulder. Wright is
being transported via ambulance to Mat-Su Regional Hospital for
treatment at this time. Investigation is ongoing.

Text: On Wednesday, 8-27-08, at about 2251 hours, USCG Military Police
stopped a silver 2001 Toyota pickup on Airport Road for an equipment
violation. Alaska State Troopers subsequently responded and determined
the driver 59 YOA Patricia Jane Maechtle of Pasagshak was under the
influence of alcohol. Maechtle submitted to standardized field sobriety
tests, which she failed. Maechtle refused to submit to a chemical test.
Maechtle was remanded at the Kodiak Jail on charges of Driving Under the
Influence and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.

Text: On 8/27/08, at 2100 hours, Alaska State Troopers assisted St.
Mary's in contacting Olan Beans, 31 of St. Mary's. Beans was completely
inebriated and was operating a four wheel all terrain vehicle at a high
rate of speed. Beans was transported to the St. Mary's State Trooper
post for a Datamaster reading. Beans was charged with one count of
Driving Under the Influence and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.
Beans was held in St. Mary's Jail and was arraigned on the charges on
8/28/08. Beans posted bail and was released from custody pending a
future court date.

male, local Fbks resident, stating that he had just been assaulted near
Fred Meyers West. The victim knew the suspect from work and described
his vehicle. AST contacted a 2001 Ford flatbed truck, orange in color
at Peger & Airport. Contact was made with the suspect / driver, John
M. FORTON, age 50, of Wasilla. Investigation resulted in his arrest for
Assault IV, DUI and Refuse to Submit to a Datamaster Exam.

Type: Motor Vehicle Collision
Text: On 8/28/08, at 1706 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to
a motor vehicle collision on College Road in front of Beaver Sports.
Investigation revealed that Tyler Brooks, 28, of Fairbanks, was driving
his 2007 Toyota Yaris east on College Road, when a 2002 Honda CRV driven
by Kimberly Troxel, 44, of Fairbanks, turned in front of him. Brooks
was unable to avoid colliding with the vehicle driven by Troxel. Both
drivers reported wearing their seat belts and no injuries were reported.
Total damage to both vehicles was estimated at $10,000. Troxel was
cited for failing to yield when turning left.

Type: Failure to Salvage All Edible Meat of Big Game - Transport Antlers
from Killsite Prior to All Edible Meat
Text: On 8-21-08, Brian C. Pike, 28 YOA of Anchorage, AK was cited by
Dillingham Wildlife Troopers for failing to salvage all the edible meat
and for removing the antlers from the killsite prior to salvaging all
the edible meat from the killsite of a bull moose he had taken in Game
Management Unit 17C. Arraignment is scheduled in Dillingham District
Court on 8-25-08 at 1330 hours.
On 8-25-08, Pike appeared in Dillingham District Court and plead no
contest to one count of failing to salvage all the edible meat of a bull
moose he had taken in GMU 17C. The charge of removing the antlers from
the killsite prior to all the edible meat were dismissed. He was fined
$2000.00 with $1000.00 suspended, the seized antlers were forfeited to
SOA, he was ordered to watch ADF&G Field Care of Big Game video, and
placed on probation for a period of two years during which time he's to
commit no other hunting offenses.

Text: On 8/28/08 at 1355 hours, Tok AWT contacted Angie David, 23 yoa of
Mentasta in the parking lot of 3 Bears. Investigation revealed that
David was in violation of her court ordered conditions of release from a
DUI arrest 2 weeks ago by consuming alcohol. David was taken into
custody for VCOR and held at the Tok holding facility pending $1000 bail
or arraignment. She was also cited for having an open container of
alcohol in the vehicle.
