Crash and Bash called off

From Mat-Su reporter Rindi White:
Pent-up frustration at being stuck behind a slowpoke motor home won't be alleviated at the Alaska State Fair this year.

The RV Crash and Bash, an event that was going to debut as part of the fair's demolition derby night on Friday, has been cancelled. Fair officials have not yet responded to a message left this afternoon asking why the event was cancelled.

The Crash and Bash was to star the oversized homes-on-wheels Alaskans get their hate on for after a summer spent trailing the slow-moving giants to fishing holes, wildlife viewing spots and other getaways.

Within our office, the idea of watching even beater behemoths get ripped apart was appealing. A coworker even suggested other RV-themed fair events that might pair nicely with the Crash and Bash, such as "Take a Bat to the Winnebago," or a gun-themed "Motor home Massacre."

Alas, it was not to be. No word yet on whether the event will be rescheduled for next year.
