We are starting by posting the Alaska State Troopers' daily logs, our own crime-related stories and other relevant items as we come across them. Type: Arrest Warrant

Text: On 7-28-2008 at approximately 1924 hours, AST arrested Shawn
Stacy, age 29 of Ketchikan, on a $100 warrant. The warrant came from
Furnishing or Delivery of Alcohol to a Minor. Stacy was arrested at a
friend's house and remanded at the Ketchikan Correctional Center without
incident.

Text: On 07/26/08 at about 1351 hours, Alaska State Troopers in
Ketchikan assisted Commercial Vehicle Enforcement with a traffic stop on

load at mile 6 North Tongass Highway. Investigation revealed that Jerry
James, age 48, of Washington, was operating a Commercial Vehicle while
his CDL was disqualified. J. James was issued a summons for Driving a
Commercial Vehicle when Disqualified and issued a Citation for
Overweight Load by Commercial Vehicle Enforcement.

Text: On 7/29/08 at approximately 0305 hours the AST South Central DUI
Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near the intersection of the Parks
Hwy. and Meadow Lakes Loop in Wasilla in response to a REDDI report.
The operator was identified as Christopher G. Meltvedt, age 18, of
Wasilla. Meltvedt was found to be operating the vehicle under the
influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI, Minor Operating After
Consuming Alcohol, and Minor Consuming Alcohol. Meltvedt was remanded
to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility where he was held on a $500.00 bail. A
15 year old female passenger, also from Wasilla, was also found to have
been consuming alcohol. The female juvenile was issued a summons to
appear in court for Minor Consuming Alcohol and released to her parents.

Type: DUI, DWLS, Eluding
Text: On 07-29-2008, at 0201 hours, the Alaska State Troopers arrested
Laurie M. Redington, age 38, of Wasilla for Driving Under the Influence,
Driving While License Suspended and Eluding. Redington was contacted as
the driver of a vehicle stopped by AST near Mile 10.5 of Knik Goose Bay
Road for a moving violation. A passenger in Redington's vehicle fled on
foot. As Troopers attempted to detain the passenger, Redington fled the
area in her vehicle. Troopers found Redington at a residence nearby.
Investigation revealed that Redington was driving while impaired and
under the influence of alcohol and driving while her license was
suspended. Redington was transported and remanded to the Mat-Su
Pre-Trial Facility. Bail was set at $10,000.00.

Type: Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree

Text: On 07-29-2008, at approximately 0630 hours, the Alaska State
Troopers responded to a report of damage to a vehicle while it was
parked at a residence on Compass Drive, Wasilla. Investigation revealed
that an unknown person(s) damaged the complainant's vehicle while it was
parked at a friend's residence between 0001 and 0550 hours, on 7-29-08.

Text: On 07/29/2008 at approx. 0632 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the Wasilla
area. Investigation revealed that Mary Walluck, age 29, of Fairbanks
assaulted a family member by causing physical injuries. Walluck was
arrested for Assault in the 4th degree involving domestic violence and
transported to MSPT where she was held without bail.

Type: Burglary I, Theft II

Text: On 7-29-08, at approximately 1220 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a residence on South Krystal Place, Big Lake, for a
reported burglary. Investigation revealed that between 1140 and 1200
hours, on 7-29-08, electronic items and coins valued at approximately
$3,000.00 were taken. Access was gained to the residence through an
unlocked door. The case is under investigation. Anyone with

Text: On 7-29-2008 at approximately 1014 hours, Alaska State Troopers
arrested Roy Munholland, age 56, of Wasilla, on an outstanding $5000.00
arrest warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of DUI.
Munholland was contacted at his residence on Shady Groove in Wasilla.
Munholland was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held on a bail
of $5000.00 cash corporate.

Type: MVC Fatal
Text: On 7/27/08, at approximately 2230 hours, Alaska State Troopers
were notified of motor vehicle collision in Takotna involving a
4-wheeler and motor cycle. Investigation indicated that John Capsule,
age 37 of Takotna was driving his 4-wheeler north toward the airport
when he collided head on with a motor cycle driven by Tyler Goods, age
15 of Takotna. Capsule was transported to McGrath and pronounced dead
at 2214 hours. The medical examiner was notified, and declined an
autopsy releasing the body to the next of kin who has been notified.
Goods was flown to Anchorage for treatment of head and face injuries.
Neither driver was wearing a helmet. Investigation is continuing.

Text: On 7/29/08, at approximately 1312 hours, Carolyn Ballot, 46
years of age, of Ambler reported to State Troopers in Kotzebue that a

Office sometime between 7/18 and 7/21/08, and was cashed within the
village on 7/22/08. Investigation continues.

Type: Driving While License Revoked, Sports Fishing Without a License
Text: On Monday, 7-28-08, at about 2030 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted 48 YOA Peter Terry Larionoff of Old Harbor on Birch Street
during a sport fishing license check. Subsequent investigation by State
Troopers revealed Larionoff was driving while his license was revoked
and was in possession of two pink salmon he had just caught in the Old
Harbor Lagoon. Larionoff admitted he did not possess a valid sports
fishing license. Larionoff was issued a uniform summons and complaint
for Driving While License Revoked and a citation for Sport Fishing
Without a License.

Type: Driving Under the Influence, Misconduct with Weapons IV and
Misconduct with Controlled Substances VI
Text: On 7-29-08, at 0212 hours, Alaska State Troopers were notified of
a possible intoxicated driver who left the Tesoro Gas Station from North
Pole and was heading for Fairbanks. AST stopped the vehicle, a 1998 red
Ford pick-up that was being operated by Thomas Anthony Hernandez, 42 of
North Pole. Investigation revealed Hernandez was driving under the
influence and he was in possession of a handgun and suspected Marijuana
and was arrested for the charges of Driving Under the Influence,
Misconduct with Weapons in the 4th degree and Misconduct with a Control
Substances in the 6th degree. Hernandez had a Breath Alcohol Content of
.148. Hernandez was transported and remanded at Fairbanks Correctional
Center

Type: drunk on premises, MICS 6

Text: On 7/29/08, while AST was conducting a bar check at Dog's bar in
Fairbanks, they saw that Michael Wicken, 51, of Fairbanks, had marijuana
and paraphernalia out on the bar in front of him. He was also found to
have more marijuana in his duffel bag and on his person, and he was
intoxicated. He was arrested for being drunk on a licensed premises,
and for Misconduct Involving a controlled Substance in the 6th degree.
He was arrested and transported to FCC without incident.

screening on the original charge of vehicle theft. Winters was arrested

Fred Meyers West for a shoplifter. Investigation revealed, Lincoln
Daniel Roberts, 60 of Venetie, was stopped by Loss Prevention Personnel
after stealing over $30.00 dollars of processed food. Roberts was
placed under arrest for Theft IV and was transported to Fairbanks
Correction Center.

Type: Motor Vehicle Collision - Injury
Text: On 07/27/08 at approximately 1335 hours, Soldotna AST responded to
a two vehicle collision with injuries near mile 53 of the Sterling
Highway. Investigation revealed that Joel Ribbens of Kenai was
Southbound in a 2005 Toyota Camry when he struck the rear of a 2007
Chevy pickup being operated by Patricia Gosch of Colorado who was
stopped for a vehicle that was turning. Ribbens and Gosch were treated
and released on scene by EMS with minor injuries. Ribbens was issued a
citation for Failure to Exercise Due Care.

Type: MVC-I, No Vehicle Insurance

Text: On 07/27/08 at approximately 0737 Hrs, Alaska State Troopers based
out of Soldotna responded to a single vehicle rollover near mile 53 of
the Sterling Highway. The vehicle was a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer driven by
Kareena L. Goudeaux-Smith, age 31, of Anchorage. Investigation revealed
that Goudeaux-Smith was driving the Blazer near mile 53 of the Sterling
Highway, drove off the road onto the shoulder, over corrected, and
rolled the vehicle one time. Both driver and passenger were transported
to the Soldotna Hospital with injuries by members of Cooper Landing
Fire/EMS, and Soldotna CES. Further investigation revealed that
Goudeaux-Smith did not have vehicle insurance on the Blazer and was
subsequently summonsed to appear in court for Failure to have Valid
Liability Vehicle Insurance.

Text: On 7/28/08 at approximately 0508 hours, AST contacted Gavriil
Kaya, age 18 of Minnesota, after he had driven off the road at
approximately mile 3.6 North Fork Road in his green 1994 Toyota pickup
and got stuck. Investigation revealed that Kaya was intoxicated, and he
was arrested for DUI. Kaya was also charged with Minor Consuming
Alcohol and was remanded to the Homer Jail on $500 bail. The vehicle
was towed by ACE Towing.

Type: DUI, Criminal Mischief IV, MCA, MOCA
Text: On 7/27/08 at approximately 1735 hours, AST received a report that
two people had just stolen a street sign in Ninilchik, off of Oilwell
Road, and then left in a blue 1991 Dodge pickup. At approximately 2205
hours, AST conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle at
approximately mile 139.5 Sterling Highway. The driver was identified as
Jonathan Self, age 17 of Ninilchik. Investigation revealed Self was
intoxicated, and he was arrested for DUI and was also charged with Minor
Consuming Alcohol and Minor Operating a vehicle after Consuming Alcohol.
The passenger was identified as Tony Cross, age 18 of Kenai.
Investigation revealed that Cross had stolen the road sign, and he was
intoxicated. Cross was issued summonses for Criminal Mischief IV and
MCA. Self was released to his parents.

Type: Big Game Guide Fail to be Present in Field
Text: On 7-23-08, 40 year old Edward Zernia of Eagle River pled No
Contest to one count of failure to be present in the field with his
client. Zernia was fined $2,000 with $1,000 suspended, and was placed on
probation for one year. The charge resulted after Zernia failed to be
physically present in the field at any time during a 2007 Dall Sheep
hunt with an assistant guide and a client who Zernia had contracted to
guide.

Type: Operate Commercial Gear / Illegal Possession

Text: On 7/28/08, Austin T. Sollars, 22 yoa, of Petersburg AK, was
charged by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for operating commercial gear
and possessing black cod without a valid interim use permit card.
13,206 pounds of black cod valued at $59,427.00 was subsequently seized
and Sollars was issued two summonses for the offense. Arraignment is
set in the Seward District Court on 7/29/08.

Text: On 7-28-08, Lester Hayes, 52 of Hollis, and Kena Hayes, 48 of
Hollis, were both found guilty of Attempted Misconduct Involving a
Controlled Substance IV. Lester Hayes was sentenced to 90 days with 30
suspended and was also placed on probation until 7-24-09. Kena Hayes
must complete 80 hours of Community Work service and was also placed on
probation until 1-24-09. These sentences are the result of an
investigation which led to the Hayes residence that further resulted in
the seizure of a small indoor marijuana grow in November 2007 by the
Alaska Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Enforcement and the Alaska State
Troopers.

Text: On 07-29-08, at approximately 1528 hours, Judicial Services
arrested James R. Strasburg, age 38, of Wasilla on an outstanding
warrant
charging him with fail to complete community work service. The warrant
stemmed from an original charge of false report. Strasburg was lodged
at the Anchorage Correctional Complex in lieu of $500 cash/corporate
bail.
