Strong bodies: fitness & health

This blog will cover all city and statewide bodybuilding competitions and the out-of-state guest posers. Weight-loss success stories from local people, features/bios on bodybuilding, fitness and figure competitors, coverage of fad diets. Nutritious recipes and reviews on local gyms and health food stores. I would also like to cover Adult/Childhood Obesity in America and specifically,Alaska. Weight-lifting techniques/safety as well as the benefits for women. This is just a general idea, as the blog will be constantly evolving.

Camaraderie makes exercise more fun

The most effective exercise is the exercise you will actually do. Fitness Boot camps are a great way to get in an hour of cardio as well as whole-body workouts- with friends! The camaraderie of people working hard all around you, cheering you on is inspiring and will ensure your workouts fly by.

I have the pleasure of conducting Fitness Boot camps twice a week and I love the energy my clients bring to each session. The Bootcamps focus on good ol' calisthenics like Burpees (a favorite), jumping jacks, crunches, pushups and sprints to name just a few. These exercises all build strength in the entire body, as well as improving speed, agility, flexibility and confidence.

The workouts are centered around actual Navy Seal and Marine Boot Camp exercises, so clearly they are no joke. Only when you are taken out of your comfort zone can your mind and body change and I ALWAYS take them far from their comfort zones!

I am proud of each and every one of my boot campers because they all work hard at each session. There's only minor complaints when I mention we will be doing 15 burpees, followed by sprints or some other crazy idea I come up with for them. They all push through and have made a commitment to improving their health and well-being, I couldn't ask for more and so far I haven't made anyone cry...yet.

Boot camp is so much fun!

I love the people and the energy at each boot camp session, you all are great! You all work so hard and never give up, it's very admirable to see what you put into each session.

I look forward to boot camp

I look forward to boot camp twice a week with Steph. She has been extremely motivating and so positive with becoming a healthier person.I never thought I could do the things we do, Steph gives all of us the confidence that we can and will be able to be successful in exercising. I am proud of myself losing inches and weight and developing muscles. I owe this attribute to Steph. Thank you so very much Steph,Les

I'm privileged to have this group of amazing people...

Les, you always keep me laughing and I love what you bring to each session. I'm so very privileged to have you and the other girls- you have all created such a positive environment and boot camp wouldn't be the same without you! Keep up all of your hard work because you have made some amazing progress :)

Boot Camp is the BEST!

There's nothing better than sweatin it out with this amazing group of people. Mixing fun and fitness makes it all seem so much easier and the time just flies by! I'm addicted to boot camp and plan on being part of this fabulous group for a very long time (or at least as long as you can put up with us)! I hope we do this year round!!!

The time does fly by!

I'm always bummed when a session ends, but it's great in the sense that exercise IS actually fun and motivating with everyone else working hard around you. I love having you and your daughter, you both are an inspiration!

I love it!

I always look forward to it every week also...and you did almost make me cry today because my hamstrings was so sore. It must be them squats you MAKE me do! I really do enjoy every second of it though. Being with other "boot camers" make the time and activities so much more fun and quicker. It also adds a bit of competitiveness.

You have made some serious improvements!

Each time I see you, it seems like your legs get stronger and stronger. You confidence in dealing with your recent knee surgery has increased immensely and I couldn't be happier with your progress. I'm so glad we are working together again and I can't wait to hear about all of the amazing things you are going to do with your life in the Navy! Keep it up girl.

I love to keep things interesting...

You know you can always count on me to come up with some crazy stuff to keep you all interested! My favorite part of training is coming up with innovative ways to help you see fast results in your body and overall health as well as keeping you interested and motivated with what we are doing. You have made such amazing changes in your body as well as your mind and I'm very honored to be a part of that change. I can't wait to see you onstage again, you are going to do great!
