Parker Gets 1-Year Re-Up With Avalanche

Right wing/enforcer Scott Parker, who grew up in Eagle River, has earned another one-year deal with the NHL's Colorado Avalanche, signing for $500,000.

Parker, 30, has struggled with injuries the last couple seasons, but nonetheless remains one of the most feared fighters in the league.

Last season, he played just 25 games, with 70 penalty minutes. In eight NHL seasons with Colorado, San Jose and again with Colorado, the former first-round draft pick has played 308 career games with 7-14--21 totals and 699 penalty minutes.

The $500,000 deal is a $25,000 raise over last season's contract.
