James Christianson's lucky day -

Thursday was Willow resident James Christianson's lucky day. By mistake, we published two letters from him in our letters section.

Yow, that was a big goof on our part. We still have the once-every-30 day rule on letters to the editor in the print edition - we just didn't catch the fact James had multiple submissions in our letters pipeline.

Readers with lots to say should check out our web feature, Letters Unfiltered, where you can post as many comments as you want, whenever you want (http://adn.com/opinion/unfiltered).

A romantic comedy set

A romantic comedy set against the backdrop of America’s nascent pro-football league in 1925. Dodge Connolly, a charming, brash football hero, is determined to guide his team from bar brawls to packed stadiums. But after the players lose their sponsor and the entire league faces certain collapse, Dodge convinces a college football star to join his ragtag ranks. The captain hopes his latest move will help the struggling sport finally capture the country’s attention. Welcome to the team Carter Rutherford, America’s favorite son. A golden-boy war hero who single-handedly forced multiple German soldiers to surrender in WWI, Carter has dashing good looks and unparalleled speed on the field. This new champ is almost too good to be true, and Lexie Littleton aims to prove that’s the case. A cub journalist playing in the big leagues, Lexie is a spitfire newswoman who suspects there are holes in Carter’s war story. But while she digs, the two teammates start to become serious off-field rivals for her fickle affections. As the new game of pro-football becomes less like the freewheeling sport he knew and loved, Dodge must both fight to keep his guys together and to get the girl of his dreams. Finding that love and football have a surprisingly similar playbook, however, he has one maneuver he will save just for the fourth quarter…

Energy and Alaskans

We Alaskans have a strong independence stripe
and we also have energy here. So lets get back to some very simple logic. Take care of ourselves first. We have plenty of oil, gas, fish, lumber , and gold: Why be an economic colony for giant corporations outside Alaska. We refine oil at Fairbanks and Kenai. Gas is everywhere,
There is even coal. Lets stop playing captain may I: Pay ourselves first, provide for ourselves first:
How: for every ten tankers out of Valdez, one stays in Alaska, any Gas leaving the State, 1/10th stays here:
The State could release some of the oil revenue funds they are gathering in the Peoples name.
In rural Alaska the high cost of energy is measured in alcoholism, suicide, child abuse, poor health- Now here is a nice idea, put our politicians on this, and stop them from their little greed and stone walling schemes- we have seen way to much poor performance from them top to bottom, its time they all step up and show a little courage, and represent their voters.
We should Take the power of leadership we have- we are sitting on a mountain of natural resources- let's take a lesson from the Saudia'es- stop begging, make an energy deprived world come to us, and make sure we
make out of the deal.
