We are starting by posting the Alaska State Troopers' daily logs, our own crime-related stories and other relevant items as we come across them. The Daily News encourages community engagement and discussion of issues of crime and criminal justice. Comments are not edited and will be posted immediately. Type: Arrest Warrant

Text: On 6-15-2008 at approximately 1214 hours, AST arrested, Dylan
Klingelhoffer age 23 of Ketchikan, on a $250.00 warrant. The warrant
came from Failure to Appear for Court Proceedings, original charge of
Driving with License Suspended. Klingelhoffer was arrested at his
residence and remanded at the Ketchikan Correctional Center without
incident.

Type: House Fire

Text: On 6/17/08 at approximately 0020 hours Klawock troopers responded
to a reported house fire in Hydaburg. Investigation revealed a
residence which has been abandoned for 20 years had burned. It is
suspected the fire was caused by fireworks as several children had been
seen in the area shooting off fireworks earlier in the evening. There
were no injuries. Investigation continues.

Type: DV Assault-4

Text: On 6/16/08 at approximately 2010 hours, Troopers responded to a
report of an assault involving domestic violence at a residence located
on Charley Drive in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Jessica D.
Linn, age 24, of Wasilla, assaulted a family member. Linn was arrested,
transported, and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility without bail.

Type: MVC-D
Text: On 6-16-08, at about 1854 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded
to the intersection of Hyer Road and Fireweed Road in Wasilla, for a
report of a single vehicle collision. An investigation revealed that
Floyd Newkirk, age 52, of Homer, was driving a 1996 FRHT semi and was
making a right turn from Hyer Road onto Fireweed Road, when the trailer
he was pulling struck the guard rail. Newkirk's vehicle sustained only
minor damage. The guard rail sustained an estimated $5,000.00 in
damage. Department of Transportation was notified of the damaged guard
rail. Seat-belt was worn and no injuries were reported. Newkirk was
issued a citation by Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement for failure to
carry its log book.

Text: On 6/16/08 at approximately 2344 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to Bogard Road near Tait Drive, Wasilla, for the report of a
two car motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed Jacob R. Lane,
age 19 of Wasilla, was traveling east on Bogard Road in a 2000 Hyundai
Sedan when his vehicle was rear ended by a 1995 Lexus Sedan driven by
Kelly A. Lacher, age 19 of Wasilla. All parties reported wearing their
seatbelts; Lane was transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital for
evaluation. Both vehicles were sustained minor damage.

Text: On 06-17-2008, at 0745 hours, the Alaska State Troopers arrested
Robert P. Hardy, age 38, of Wasilla for DUI. Hardy was contacted near
the intersection of Lucille and Schrock Road, Wasilla, by AST during an
investigation of a REDDI report. Investigation revealed that Hardy was
driving under the influence of alcohol. Hardy was transported and
remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Bail was set at $500.

Type: DWLS

Text: On 6/15/08 at approximately 2038 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted Brenda S. Cox, age 47, on Peck Street near Dellwood Drive in
Wasilla for an equipment violation. Investigation revealed that Cox was
driving while her license was suspended. Cox was issued a summons to
appear in court for driving while license suspended, issued a citation
for failure to show proof of insurance, and released. The vehicle was
released to a licensed driver.

Text: On 06-17-2008 at approximately 0600 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted William S. Bentti, age 27, of Wasilla, at his residence off of
Wasilla Fishhook Drive. Bentti had an outstanding warrant for his arrest
for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Driving while License
Suspended. During the course of the arrest Bentti resisted arrest by use
of phyiscal force. Bentti was transported to Matsu Pre-Trial where he
was remanded and additionally charged with Resisting Arrest. Bail set
for $1,500 for resisting arrest and $5,000 for the outstanding warrant.

Type: MVA-I, DUI

Text: On 6/16/08, at 1900 hrs, the Stebbins VPO's received a report of a
motor vehicle accident. Investigation revealed Danny Katcheak, age 43
of Stebbins was intoxicated and had rolled his 4-wheeler, with it
landing on top of him. Katcheak sustained abrasions and bruises, but
not seriously hurt. Katcheak was arrested for DUI and will be
telephonically arraigned.

Type: Criminal Mischief/Criminal Trespass

Text: On 6/10/08, three juveniles were found inside the Stebbins Native
Corporation office. They had broken a window and entered the office.
Nothing was found to be missing. Charges will be forwarded to Juvenile
Intake and the juveniles were released to their parents. Damage is
estimated to be under $500.

Type: 2 counts Assault III Domestic Violence

Text: On 6/16/08 at about 0437 hours, the S hishmaref VPO reported a
65 year old man was assaulted with a golf club by 45 year old Lorraine
Jungers. Charges pending for two counts of Assault III against Jungers.

Type: Search and Rescue

Text: On 6/16/08 at about 0006 hours, Saint Michael VPOs reported a boat
with four people was overdue. The VPOs also reported one of the four
was a small child. A family member with a boat was currently out
searching for the missing boaters. An additional boat was authorized by
AST to augment search efforts. Several other boats from the village
were also out searching. On 6/16/08 at about 0730 hours, the missing
boaters were located three miles out, drifting, apparently due to engine
problems. All four were reported in good condition.

Text: On 6-11-08, at approximately 1500 hours, Nome AST was advised of
an assault in the village of Shishmaref. The report was that a 4 yoa
female juvenile was assaulted by an adult relative. Nome AST contacted
the VPSO who responded and attempted to contact individuals involved in
the incident. Investigation is ongoing.

Text: On 6/15/08, at 0330 hours, Alaska State Troopers were called to a
party in St. Marys. Troopers contacted Linda Oney, 44 of Pitka's Point.
Oney was extremely intoxicated from excess consumption of alcohol. Oney
is on probation from a previous conviction. A referral was made to the
District Attorney's Office for the probation violation. Alcohol was a
major factor in the incident.

Text: On 6/14/08 Alaska State Troopers in Bethel investigated a domestic
violence assault in Newtok, Alaska. Investigation by Troopers resulted

Assault IV and one count of Criminal Mischief IV.

Text: On 6/17/2008 at 0135 hrs., AST contacted 45 yr old Kurth Marth
and 43 yr old Gary Mason, of North Pole after they were stopped for a
traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that both subjects
were on Felony Probation and were in violation of their condition of
Probation. Both Mason and Marth were arrested for Probation Violation
and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

Type: DV assault

Text: On 6/16/08 at about 0020 hours, AST was called to a residence in
North Pole by a woman who was reporting that a male family member, James
Morris, 32, of North Pole, had assaulted her. Morris left the residence
before AST's arrival. Investigation revealed that in addition to
injuring the caller, Morris had also assaulted a child in the home by
placing them in fear. Two charges of assault 4, DV, were forwarded to
the district attorney's office.

Type: DUI, probation violation

Text: On 6/17/08 at about 0500 hours, AST contacted Rolin Allison Jr.,
41, of North Pole, after a family member had requested contact because
they were concerned about his welfare. Investigation revealed that
Allison had violated his probation by driving after consuming alcohol.
He was arrested for DUI and probation violation; his breath alcohol was
determined to be .131. He was taken to FCC, where he was held without
bail.

Text: On 6/15/08 at 2333 hours, DUI Enforcement Troopers stopped a grey
Chevy pickup for speeding in a construction zone of the Steese Highway.
The operator was identified as Lisa A. Wright, age 19 of Nenana. An
investigation revealed Wright was operating a motor vehicle with out a
license. Wright was issue a summons to appear in court as well as a
citation for speed and released at the scene.

Case number: 08-47332

Type: Motor Vehicle Crash - Injury

Text: On 6/16/08 at approximately 1916 hours, AST received a call from a
motorist who reported a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle at
mile post 206 of the Parks Hwy. AST responded and identified the driver
Wade Nelson Schmidt, 51 of Redding, CA. Schmidt also had a passenger
identified as his wife, Cherry Ann Schmidt, 46 of Redding, CA. Further
investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate
of speed as it left the roadway and lost control. The motorcycle went
into a ditch and up an embankment causing both the driver and passenger
to fall off. Both of the individuals involved sustained injuries and
had to be transported by Cantwell EMS. Both were then flown to
Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. The driver received
a citation for basic speed.

Location: Girdwood

Case number: 08-47292

Type: MVC-D

Text: On 6/16/08 at approximately 1637 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to mile 70.5 of the Seward Highway for the report of a truck
and trailer crash blocking the South bound lane. Investigation revealed
Nayer Mahmoud, age 51 of Anchorage, was driving South on the Seward
Highway in a black 2006 Nissan pickup pulling a 2008 26 foot travel
trailer. In the vehicle with Nayer were Parihan Mahmoud, age 51 of
Anchorage, and two children. The travel trailer began to fishtail
behind the tow vehicle. Nayer attempted to correct the fishtail and was
unsuccessful. The truck and trailer struck a guardrail causing the
trailer to overturn. All occupants reported wearing their safety belts
and received no injuries. Both vehicles were a total loss. Alcohol was
not a factor. Alyeska Towing responded for both vehicles. A special
thanks is extended to the American Legion Riders Post 5 in Seward for
providing traffic control.

Text:On 6-16-2008 at 1635 hours, Soldotna AST stopped a 2003 Ford
Frontier for a moving violation. Investigation showed the driver,

1C. This incident occurred during July of 2007, at the Cowee Creek
Bridge when Skaife shot the bear with his compound-bow. Black bear
hunting season in GMU 1C is closed during the months of July and August.

Text: On 6/16/08, Hoonah AWT Troopers onboard the P/V Gow-tukan,
escorted a 24ft, fiberglass vessel into Hoonah for repairs. The vessel
had reportedly struck a whale and damaged its' outdrive, causing engine
stoppage, and a steady stream of water into the boat. AWT Troopers
provided two additional hand pumps, and transferred two large coolers
onto the P/V Gow-tukan to provide for better vessel stability. Upon
reaching Hoonah, AWT Troopers discovered that the group of two Yukon
residents, and one Manitoba resident, had take an overlimit of king
salmon, and possessed a large number of chunked up halibut pieces in the
coolers. Citations were issued to two of the fisherman, Ron Chambers,
age 55, of Yukon Territory Canada, and Ron Thiessen, age 61, of
Manitoba, Canada. Troopers checked the area and were not able to locate
any injured whales.

Text: On 6/16/08 Nome ABADE completed an investigation and filed charges
on Stephanie C. Anasogak, age 30, of Nome, AK and Andrew R. Kunayak,
Jr., age 36, of Nome, AK in the Nome District Court. Anasogak and
Kunayak allowed marijuana to be sold out of their residence during the
week of Iditarod, by their babysitter, while their child was present.
Charges filed on Anasogak are two counts of Misconduct Involving a
Controlled Substance in the fifth degree, Misconduct Involving a
Controlled Substance in the sixth degree, Endangering the Welfare of a
Minor in the second degree and a probation violation. Charges filed on
Kunayak are two counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in
the fifth degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor in the second
degree.

Text: On 06-13-08 the Soldotna Drug Unit contacted Sharon Barrickman and
Christopher Knopp at their residence in North Kenai during an
investigation into a Methamphetamine laboratory. A search warrant was
served on Barrickman and Knopp's residence at which time a Meth lab was
located in the master bedroom. Barrickman and Knopp were arrested on
scene and were transported to Wildwood Pretrial where they were remanded
for several counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the
second. This investigation is continuing.
