Crime Blog

This is a new blog dedicated to the general topic of crime and crime prevention in Alaska. We are starting by posting the Alaska State Troopers' daily logs, our own crime-related stories and other relevant items as we come across them. The Daily News encourages community engagement and discussion of issues of crime and criminal justice. Comments are not edited and will be posted immediately. We know that stories about crime often provoke strong reactions, but we insist that you keep your comments on point, use good taste and show courtesy toward other writers. Posts that violate the Terms of Use will be deleted, and repeat offenders will be banned from adn.com. When presenting factual information, take care that it is accurate and cite and/or link to sources where appropriate.

Babysitter's drug dealing prompts charges against parents

Two Nome residents accused of allowing their babysitter to sell marijuana out of their home during the Iditarod have been charged following a months-long investigation, according to Alaska State Troopers.

The charges, filed Monday, were the result of the investigation into the actions of Stephanie Anasogak, 30, and Andrew Kunayak Jr., 36, troopers said.

Troopers say the drug dealing took place the week of the Iditarod and that the sitter sold the drugs while the couple's child was present.

Both were charged with several counts of misconduct involving controlled substances and endangering the welfare of a child.

Anasogak was also charged with a probation violation, troopers said.

Look at what the black market does.....

These people should have their children taken away and their heads examined. Just another example of the black market and the greed that is created by it.
