From Mat-Su editor Joseph Ditzler:

Phone service from Matanuska Telephone Association is resuming across the Valley this afternoon, after a scheduled maintenance somehow went awry early this morning and caused a widespread outage. That's the word from T.C. Mitchell, who visited the MTA HQ about an hour ago.

MTA public relations manager Jackie Kenshalo by e-mail said service was being restored and directed customers to www.mtasolutions. com for further updates.

The outage took down landline and some cell phone service in the Mat-Su. More to come as we gather information.
