Why only four letters today

We had a scheduling mix-up and ran four op-ed pieces today instead of three, which knocked out about three letters. We'll be back to normal letters volumes tomorrow....

But readers should know that the volume of letters we receive tends to drop dramatically during the summer, when Alaskans are doing other things than banging out their thoughts on their computers. So there may be times when we don't have the usual 7 or 8 letters a day, just because we don't have enough that meet our guidelines and standards for publication.

The more letters that folks write, the more material we have to work with.
