Baby Penguins Remain Alive, Force Game 6 In AHL

Winger Tim Wallace of Anchorage set up Dave Gove's tying goal midway through the second period Saturday night, and that served as a springboard to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins' 5-1 victory over the Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League's Calder Cup Finals.

The Penguins have won consecutive games since the Wolves took a 3-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Game 6 is Tuesday in Chicago, with Game 7, if necessary, set for Thursday.

Wallace, a second-year pro who played collegiately at Notre Dame, owns 2-6--8 totals in 22 playoff games. One of his teammates is former Alaska Aces sniper Chris Minard, who scored a goal in the Penguins' 3-1 Friday in Game 4.

Chicago includes second-year winger Joey Crabb of Anchorage.

Calder Cup

Well Minard, you're finally out of season, next season!! Hopefully you will still be playing with the Pens, just this time, one level higher, the bigger Pens. Congrats on a wonderful season and look forward to our cowbells ringing for you next season. Til then, take care.

At the arena

Hey Doyle,

Kelly and I are sitting across from Allstate Arena right now. She totally scammed me by "discovering" last night that Game 6 is tonight, just 20 minutes from our hotel. Needless to say, she had online tickets within 10 minutes and my plan to relax after a long flight went out the window. Minard's married, right? I had to listen to how great he is for the entire flight.
