David Carle Pegged 70th Among Draft Prospects By The Hockey News

For what it's worth, the preview edition published by The Hockey News pegs defenseman David Carle as the 70th-best prospect in the upcoming NHL draft later this month. That equates to a third-round pick.

The Hockey News rated the its top 100 prospects for the draft June 20-21 in Ottawa.

Carle, 18, played last season for Shattuck St. Mary's of Faribault, Minn., which won a second straight USA Hockey U-18 national championship. He's headed in the fall to the University of Denver, where his older brother, San Jose Sharks blueliner Matt Carle, won two national titles and the Hobey Baker Memorial Award as college hockey's best player.

David Carle last season earned 13-38--51 totals in 61 games. He was ranked 60th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting in its final listings.

For what it's worth, Matt Carle in 2003 was ranked 66th among North American skaters by Central Scouting, but went to San Jose in the second round with the 47th pick overall.
