Absinthe - the green fairy

Absinthe, now legal in the U.S., is the subject of a story in Sunday's Life and Taste section. Let me know your thoughts and share your experiences trying it, tasting it, missing it or not caring about it whatsoever.

And, check back on Friday to read about my experience with the infamous "la Fee Verte," historical background and possible vendor information for home purchase.

Not really my cup of tea

I know that the buzz and curiosity will create an interest. The recipes are dominated by the licorice taste and can be difficult to swallow. It also is time consuming to prepare properly and I've yet to have a cocktail with true Absinthe in it that was appealing. VEP Green and Yellow Chartruese have been around Anchorage for some years now and it also contains wormwood.

It's also very expensive but there is a cult following for it.

I hope it goes over well. It's been years in the making to bring this back to the United States.

I think it's a fad that will pass!

Who knows?
