This is a new blog dedicated to the general topic of crime and crime prevention in Alaska. We are starting by posting the Alaska State Troopers' daily logs, our own crime-related stories and other relevant items as we come across them. The Daily News encourages community engagement and discussion of issues of crime and criminal justice. Comments are not edited and will be posted immediately. We know that stories about crime often provoke strong reactions, but we insist that you keep your comments on point, use good taste and show courtesy toward other writers. Posts that violate the Terms of Use will be deleted, and repeat offenders will be banned from adn.com. When presenting factual information, take care that it is accurate and cite and/or link to sources where appropriate.

Serving Restraining order? why not investigaiton?
Great job to the Trooper who had the training and experience to see this for what it was and taking action.
Why did this happen this way though? Why didn't a Trooper on regular patrol find this? why didn't a drug investigator find this? Because there aren't enough of them.
No one cares how few Troopers and cops there are until they need one and then it is to late. Call the Troopers and ask how many Troopers are working tonight.... you will find out that if something happened to you or your family you might have a long wait.
Alaska is not safe, yes we can protect ourselves and should be ready to do so, but we should also have adequate police force to deter and solve crime. Call the governor and ask her what she is doing to keep her promise of Public Safety is a priority.
