The Anchorage Police Department arrested 377 people this week.

Of those arrested, the majority were in the category of Driving Offenses.

Ongoing Operations: Fraud Tip -- Valuables left in vehicles are prime targets for thieves. Do not leave valuables such as checks, credit cards, or identification cards unattended inside a parked vehicle. This seems obvious, yet many Anchorage citizens are victimized in this manner each year. The time and effort it takes to properly secure valuables is minimal compared to the time and effort it takes to repair damaged credit and identity theft.

School Year Sunday night through Thursday night - 11:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
Friday night, Saturday night & Summer Vacation -1:00 a.m. - 5:00 a.m.

Beginning Jan. 1, 1996, Anchorage enacted a new curfew law.
What is a curfew violation?
1. When any minor remains in a public place or establishment during curfew hours.
o Establishment - (means any privately-owned place of business operated for a profit to which the public is invited, including but not limited to any place for amusement or entertainment.)
o Public place - (means any place to which the public or a substantial group of the public has access, and includes but is not limited to streets, highways, sidewalks, bridges, alleys, plazas, parks, driveways, parking lots, and the common areas of schools, hospitals, apartment houses, office buildings, transport facilities, and shops.)
2. When the owner or operator of an establishment allows a minor to remain on the premises of an establishment during curfew hours.
3. When a parent or guardian allows a minor to violate the curfew law.
Who does the law effect? Any minor, parent, guardian, or establishment.
Who is a minor? Any person 16 years of age or younger.
Where does this law apply? Anywhere in the Municipality of Anchorage.
Who is a parent? A natural, adoptive, or step-parent of a minor.
Who is a guardian? Any person or agency, private or public, with whom the minor has been placed by the court.
Are there exceptions? Yes. Accompanied by a parent or guardian; employment; emergencies; specific written or oral permission of a parent or guardian; official school or religious activities are some of the exceptions.
Penalties: $75 to $300 A.M.O. 8.05.440
