Mother's Day Specialties!

Here's to a Happy Mother's Day for all!

Traditionally Mother's all around the country spend the day with their children opening cards, indulging in a box of chocolates or enjoying the fragrance of a superbly assembled bouquet of flowers.

Sometime during the day why not let the bartender within emerge and do something extra special for Mom this year.

How about a delicious refreshing cocktail for her while she lounges amid the scattered wrapping paper of lovely gifts.

Here are some recipes from Colleen Graham at about.com to shake up and let Mom sip and savor.

Rosy Rum Cosmopolitan (who doesn't love a Cosmo)

1 1/2 oz. Bacardi Rum
1/2 oz. triple sec
2 Tbsp. lime juice
1 oz. Cranberry Juice

Combine all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice and shake. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with fresh mint.

Blushing Lady (this will make her cheeks nice and rosy)

1 oz. PAMA Pomegranate Liquer
2 oz Vodka
1 oz. Pink Grapefruit Juice

Rub a lemon wedge around the rim of a martini glass and dip the glass into a plate of cane sugar. Pour ingredients into a shaker filled with ice and shake. Strain into the martini glass rimmed with sugar. Garnish with a lolly-pop.

Glamour Girl Martini (for the wine lover in every woman)

3 oz. of Pinot Grigio
1 oz. of Pink Schnapps
splash of cranberry juice

Combine all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice and shake. Strain into a chilled martini glass and drop a maraschino cherry into the bottom of the glass.

If you can't make your Mother a cocktail take her to brunch at Simon and Seafort's, Platinum Jaxx (great Mimosa and Bloody Mary bars), Sack's or one of the many other hot spots in town and fix her up with one of their specialty cocktails or wine flights!
