Alaska Politics

This is the place for news on Alaska politics -- state, local and national. Public life in the Last Frontier may never have been more interesting than right now -- the broad and still-evolving corruption investigation, a new governor, powerful members of Congress under scrutiny, and the usual hardball politics on the state, national and local levels. Come here for the latest news and join the discussion. Keep your comments civil and on point. Avoid personal attacks. Do not use profanity. Posts that violate the Terms of Use will be deleted. Repeat offenders will be banned.

From Sean Cockerham in Anchorage --

Democratic Congressional candidate Jake Metcalfe has called a press conference at his Anchorage campaign headquarters for tomorrow at 1 p.m.

Metcalfe hasn't been reachable today. I spoke to his wife and she wouldn't confirm or deny the rumors he is dropping out.

She said there wouldn't be any comment about that until the press conference.

didn't he say their would be no further comment about that?

Maybe he is announcing that he is moving to San Francisco.

Eureka!

Moving to San Francisco might be a very positive thing.

He's be positioned to move back to Alaska in a year or so and make a more promising run.

I assume

the ADN editorial board will be calling on Don Young to resign for failing to talk about why he is spending over $1 million in legal fees, for Ted Stevens to resign for failing to talk about why his house was raided by the FBI, for Ethan Berkowitz to quit for failing to release his income taxes, and for all the other Republicans whose offices have been raided or names have been linked to the CBC (Kevin Meyer, Mike Hawker, etc.) to resign unless they tell us why their offices were raided or why they have been linked to the Corrupt Bastards Club.

Awesome if he is dropping out

But then, he really was not competitive to begin with...just a "wanna be".
