Alaska-Connected Skaters Advance In AHL Playoffs

A couple more Alaska-connected players -- former UAA Seawolves defenseman Chad Anderson and former UAF Nanooks winger Kyle Greentree -- advanced in the American Hockey League playoffs Tuesday night when their Philadelphia Phantoms eliminated the Albany River Rats, 2-0, in Game 7.

Anderson, Greentree and company beginning Thursday play the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins -- that club includes former Alaska Aces sniper Chris Minard and forward Tim Wallace of Anchorage -- in the Calder Cup's East Division Final.

Anderson was +2 with one shot Tuesday to give him 0-1-1 and +2 totals in seven playoff games. Greentree was held off the score sheet, and finished the series with 1-1--2 and -2 totals.

Minard owns 5-1--6 and +3 totals, and Wallace checks in at 1-2--3 and +3.

Other Alaska-connected players still alive in the Calder Cup include Chicago Wolves winger Joey Crabb of Anchorage, Providence Bruins center Nate Thompson of Anchorage and Syracuse blueliner Duvie Westcott, the former UAA defenseman.
