Strong bodies: fitness & health

This blog will cover all city and statewide bodybuilding competitions and the out-of-state guest posers. Weight-loss success stories from local people, features/bios on bodybuilding, fitness and figure competitors, coverage of fad diets. Nutritious recipes and reviews on local gyms and health food stores. I would also like to cover Adult/Childhood Obesity in America and specifically,Alaska. Weight-lifting techniques/safety as well as the benefits for women. This is just a general idea, as the blog will be constantly evolving.

Revolution Sports Training & Crossfit Alaska

Remember all of those exercises you thought you'd never have to do again after you left grade school; burpees, push-ups, rope climbing, box jumps, jumping rope, etc? Well they are back and better than ever.

Crossfit is an exercise philosophy that puts your athleticism to the test by incorporating old school exercises like those just mentioned with new school combinations and lung-bursting intensity. You are only limited by your creativity and of course your lung capacity. The meat and potatoes exercises are still there- like the squat, deadlift and the clean and jerk, but you will never feel the same about them after they become a part of your crossfit workout.

Crossfit is by no means the traditional gym workout and the need for fancy equipment is minimal in order to break a sweat, in fact most crossfitters find solace in their garages with loud music blaring in the background a chin-up bar and some free weights at their disposal. Most crossfit workouts target your whole body in one session.

You may or may not be familiar with the typical and unique exercises in a crossfit workout, so to find out more check out: www.crossfit.com

Crossfit has been an underground method of hardcore functional training for years now, but has recently been gaining more notoriety since the movie "300" came out. The cast of the movie was known for performing crossfit type workouts to get in shape fast. That's what crossfit is known for though, pushing yourself to the limit and competing against yourself all while getting into great physical condition with a quickness.

I had the opportunity to experience a workout with the guys from Crossfit Alaska last Friday and it was intense to say the least. Revolution Sports will be opening its doors to the public Saturday, May 3rd. 9191 Old Seward Highway Suite 10 & 11. Check out their website: www.revolutionsportstraining.com

Clay, Tony and Dan are the trainers at Crossfit AK and are knowledgable, encouraging and will definitely give you a workout to remember. You are sure to wobble away from a crossfit workout a different person with a new perspective on fitness and your own capabilities.

Awesome training method

I know first hand how tough this training is I recently experienced my first try at it. It was challenging but I felt like I got alot from it minus my first time vomiting from a workout!

You did great

Crossfit workouts definitely aren't for everyone but you finished and really that's all that matters. A workout is not truly great until it causes you to lose breakfast :)
