We are starting by posting the Alaska State Troopers' daily logs, our own crime-related stories and other relevant items as we come across them. A motorcycle driver and passenger involved in a crash in Palmer suffered only minor injuries. See details below.

Case number: 08-30172
Type: MVC-I
Text: On 4-22-08, at about 1932 hours, Alaska State Troopers
investigated a single motorcycle collision at Old Glenn Highway and
Bodenburg Loop in Palmer. An investigation revealed that Michael
Barnhart, age 41, of Palmer, was traveling southbound on the Old Glenn
Highway when his motorcycle, a 2004, Yamaha, motorcycle, left the
roadway and crashed. Both the driver and passenger were wearing helmets
at the time of the collision and the passenger suffered only minor
injuries. The passenger was transported to Matsu Regional Medical
Center for her injuries. The motorcycle sustained minor damage.
Barnhart was issued a citation for not having a motorcycle endorsement.

Airport Way following a report of an attempted theft. Investigation is

Type: Probation Violation
Text: On 4-22-08 Alaska State Troopers contacted Codey Mikesell 20
years of age after receiving a report of suspicious activity near the
intersection of College Road and University Avenue. Investigation
revealed Mikesell was in violation of his probation conditions.
Mikesell was arrested for probation vilolation and remanded to Fairbanks
Correctional Center.

Type: DUI, DWSOL

Text: On April 23, 2008, at about 0236 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a report of an occupied vehicle that was in the ditch.
Investigation revealed that William R. Slater Jr., 29 of Fairbanks was
driving under the influence of alcohol and he later showed a breath test
result of .216. Further investigation revealed that he was driving on a
suspended license. Slater was remanded to FCC, where he was held on
$2,000 bail.

Type: Warrant Arrest

Text: On 4/22/08 at 0815 hours AST arrested Victor W. George II
(Anchorgae) for an outstanding warrant for his arrest. George was
arrested for Assault in the First Degree and was remanded to FCC with a
bail of $20,000. George was contacted after AST was called to welfare
check on a male outside of a residence in Fairbanks.

Text: On 4/22/08 at 1200 hours AST contacted and arrested Kurtis Reed
(24 YOA, Fairbanks) for concealing merchandise and attempting to leave a
Fairbanks business without paying for it. Reed was remanded to FCC.

Text: On 4-22-08, at approximately 1445 hours, the Alaska Fugitive Task
Force (members of the USMS, APD, AST) arrested George Oliver UPDEGRAFF
(47) of Chugiak at a residence in Chugiak for an outstanding felony
warrant for failing to register as a Sex Offender 1. UPDEGRAFF was taken
to Anchorage jail where he is held in lieu of a $20,000 bail.
