Greetings from your Anchorage Chamber 2008 Citywide Cleanup Coordinator! For the purposes of the blog, you can call me Captain Cleanup. And thank you for checking out our first BLOG about the amazing transformation that happens every Spring in Anchorage.
Mother Nature recently gave us a glimpse at the trash underneath the snow. She's covered it back up but it's still there... just waiting for us to pick it up this May. We'll start Citywide Cleanup Week on Saturday, May 3 and finish up on Saturday, May 10. So mark your calendar now for the 40th Annual Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup.
We have some exciting changes in store for our 40th year... like turning the former Blue Jeans Luncheon into the Clean Sweep Celebration. We've created contests for the community to demonstrate what else can be done with old blue jeans. We've partnered with our sponsors to bring you fun locations for Orange Bag Pickup. And we're excited to have even more Anchorage Schools participating in the Super Sweepers Program. Check out the links to the right for more information.
In the coming days, comments will be posted from our Committee Members, our Sponsors, and our Volunteers. Please share your thoughts, your photos, your stories and your ideas too.
Just like Anchorage, Citywide Cleanup keeps getting better and better. We want you to be a part!
Stayed tuned for the next installment... Ripping Good Fun: The Sound of Shredding Blue Jeans.

Captian clean up
thank you for organizing our voters that keep our property taxes on the rise. I love it that they happily pick up the trash that I disgaurd on to public property, this cuts my expense so I can afford my home, it saves me hundreds. I can hardly wait not to recycle, I will save money there too. Thanks again I will make sure you will always have a brite future.
