Everyone from the community is invited to enter this creative contest. Entries will be submitted and displayed on Friday, May 9. Prices will be awarded in three categories with two age divisions per category.

Three city landfill locations will be open to the general public for free residential dumping on May 3, 4 & 10. Just have orange bags? Save yourself from waiting in line on the weekend... Orange Bags are accepted for free all week. Regardless of when you go, all loads must still be covered. Keep reading for more information.

Anchorage Regional Landfill
(Glenn Highway at Hiland Road)
Saturday May 3: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sunday May 4: noon to 5 p.m.
Saturday May 10: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Anchorage Central Transfer Station
(54th Avenue & Juneau – off of Old Seward Hwy)

What does free mean?

MANDATORY: You must still cover your truck or trailer on the way to the dump. Vehicles with unsecured or improperly covered loads will be charged the normal $10 fee.

Free residential dump days during Citywide Cleanup Week is for residential customers ONLY. Loads must be in a car, unmodified pickup trailer or trailer with the load not to exceed the size of a standard pickup bed (8 feet by 5.5 feet wide and 3 feet high). The load must be secured or covered to prevent spillage in transit and must not exceed 1,000 pounds. All loads exceeding this limit will be weighed and charged at the normal rate per ton. At the Central Transfer Station, that rate per ton is $60. At the Anchorage Regional Landfill, that rate is $50.

Free disposal includes five gallons of waste oil, one car battery and up to 40 pounds of household waste per day. There is a $20 charge for appliances containing Freon such as refrigerators or freezers.
