I honed my mixology skills at the Oak Room of the Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston. Other experience includes the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago, and the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage, where I facilitated community tasting events while bartending at the Crow's Nest. I am currently working with a team of mixologists at Simon & Seafort's. To date, I have created more than 300 new cocktails. I've lived in Anchorage since 1999.

Drink of the Month for April!

As we inch closer to Spring it sure would be nice to have a beverage to remind us of how intoxicating it will be when it gets here.

This month I chose the Puffin Martini. This elixir gives the look and feel of Spring and Summer in a glass and also looks to the mighty Puffin of Alaska for it's inspiration

Although this drink is a few years old, it debuted on the Crows Nest cocktail list in the Summer of 2006 and was named martini of the year at the end of 2006 by the Anchorage Daily News.

I'm asked to make this drink almost anywhere I go. The Puffin Martini blends together 3 key ingredients and is extremely easy to shake-up.

Here it is;

Puffin Martini (A manly drink and chicks can drink it to)

1 1/2 oz. Watermelon Pucker
1/2 oz. Vodka
1 1/2 oz. Orange Juice

Combine all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice and shake. Strain into a chilled martini glass and slice a marachino cherry half way through and slide it onto the edge of the glass.

It's orange and yellow hues combined with the cherry is a beautiful presentation and gave me the Puffin inspiration, I thought what a good way to pay tribute to such an obscure beautiful animal.

This cocktail is smooth and low in alcohol content so you can enjoy a few and get your daily dosage of vitamin-c along the way.

Isn't it great to drink healthy!

Salut!
