I honed my mixology skills at the Oak Room of the Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston. Other experience includes the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago, and the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage, where I facilitated community tasting events while bartending at the Crow's Nest. I am currently working with a team of mixologists at Simon & Seafort's. To date, I have created more than 300 new cocktails. I've lived in Anchorage since 1999.

Cocktail Upgrade! Yes!

For some time now I've been asked, "Does it really matter if you use basic well, call or top shelf brands for your favorite drink.

Yes it does.

I know many bartenders feel it doesn't matter what Vodka you throw into a Bloodymary or if you use Smirnoff Citron or Grey Goose Citron for your Cosmopolitan.

The bottom line is the better the ingredients you use for any drink whether it be a Rum and Coke a Gin and Tonic to your own signature
cocktail, you improve the quality of the drink.

Who would rather have Pepsi or Coke or Kirkland Cola? Seven up, Sprite or Lime soda?

Who would rather have fresh fruit or canned fruit?

When you upgrade the beverage you enjoy it makes for a superior drink.
You will pay a little more for the drink in question. When you are going to meet friends and celebrate and event with co-workers, why not indulge.

Don't ever cheat yourself for something superior because of 2 bucks.

Depending on what spirit you drink ask what the well brand is. If it's something you've never heard of and in a plastic bottle, it could leave you with a little head-ache in the morning.

Alcohol is a chemical and every chemical you ingest has a reation in your body. If you put something of poor quality into your system you'll have an adverse reaction to it.

Better spirits, better quality, better reaction.

Don't be to confused though, too much of anything will leave you with a bad feeling the next day.

So next time your out, add Grey Goose Citron to your Lemon Drop.

Have them pour Heradura Silver instead of that 1800 Tequila for your Margarita.

Use Magellan Gin or Tanqueray 10 for a Gin and Tonic?

If you have the chance put Pyrat Rum into a Rum and Coke, you won't be sorry.

Most importantly martini lovers, try Ciroc Vodka and Hendricks Gin for a smooth and powerful martini experience.

Search and experiment with different brands to find your liking.

Most bartenders will give you sample tastes to help you decide.

Remember, it's your drinking experience and no one elses.

After sometime you'll be an expert among your friends and they'll seek out your advice when it comes to imbibing.

Salut!
