From local brewers to the vineyards of Italy, exotic wines and spirits land on the shelves of our local stores and favorite bars. This site will inform and educate you about what's good and why. I'll share my best cocktail recipes; please send feedback. Together we'll explore what specialties local bartenders are mixing, and mark our calendars for special events. Salut!

I honed my mixology skills at the Oak Room of the Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston. Other experience includes the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago, and the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage, where I facilitated community tasting events while bartending at the Crow's Nest. I am currently working with a team of mixologists at Simon & Seafort's. To date, I have created more than 300 new cocktails. I've lived in Anchorage since 1999.

March is the month of the Irish and the Irish Cosmopolitan!

It's that time of the year when we can't see green outside but we can see all of the green around us.

It's the month of St.Patrick's Day!

Everyone is pulling out their best green decoration to wear for what looks to be a great St. Patty's Day celebration.

I love holidays that gives us a reason to drink. And the Irish have drinking down to a science. Guiness Stout, Harp Lager, Beamish Stout and Kilkenny Cream Ale are but a few beers to hoist up on Monday March 17th.

Why put off tomorrow what you can do today and check out McGinley's Pub at 645 G. St. for the latest on St. Patrick's Day celebrations and tipple a glass or two of Irish Whiskey's.

I've been working on a new original cocktail to honor my Irish ancestors and have finally perfected the Irish Cosmopolitan.

Why can't the Irish have their own Cosmo?

It's light, sweet but tart and green. This is a cocktail you can have anytime of year but it fits in well now.

The drink of the month is;

The Irish Cosmopolitan

1 1/2 oz. Van Gogh Orange Vodka
1 /2 oz Midori
3/4 oz. Roses Lime
1 oz. White Cranberry Juice

Combine all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Put a nice green lollipop in for stirring and presentation.

Cheers!

Finally, a green drink I can enjoy!

That. Sounds. Marvelous. Slainte, Keith, for offering a green drink option that doesn't involve lukewarm beer or food coloring. Happy St. Patty's Day (soon)!
