Fur Rendezvous kicks off tomorrow in Anchorage. It is our midwinter festival. For more than 70 years, Rondy has given Alaskans with cabin fever a break.
This week it hasn't felt much like winter. Temperatures of 40 degrees or more most days, strong winds blowing warm air from the south and lots of rain. It certainly puts a damper on the Rondy feeling.
Hopefully, the weather will get itself straightened out and we can get on with the winter festival. Good news came out today: the Rondy sled dog races are still on. Some years, the races have been called off because of lack of snow on area trails.
I'm ready to Rondy, hopefully the weather is too.
