Meg White's breakdown causes White Stripes to cancel local concert

Citing a drummer with mental health problems, The White Stripes has canceled its Sept. 24 rock concert at Sullivan Arena.

“Meg White is suffering from acute anxiety and is unable to travel at this time,” stated The White Stripes Web site.

The band’s latest album, “Icky Thump,” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and is approaching 1 million in sales.

The tour cancellation affects U.S. dates through mid-October. At this time, no dates have been rescheduled.

The White Stripes camp also posted a brief apology to fans: “We hate to let people down and are very sorry.”

Those who bought concert tickets can get refunds at the point of purchase. Tickets purchased via credit card will be automatically refunded to the card. Refunds will be available at the Sullivan’s box office starting noon Friday.

How to get a refund

If you have tickets in hand, whether from the box office or your printer, then return them to the point of purchase for a refund, however you originally paid for them. Those of you who bought them online or by phone and had tickets sent to you can get your refund at the Sullivan Arena box office. If you ordered tickets with a credit card for will-call, your card should be automatically refunded.

You've got a year to do it.

White Stripes Refund

I have my tickets in hand that were purchased with a credit card. When should I expect the refund to automatically be credited to my card?

You have to go to the box office

Folks at the Sullivan Arena box office say that anyone with tickets in hand has to return them to the place of purchase. If you bought tickets at Fred Meyer's, then go there, but if you bought them over the phone or online, then go to the Sullivan.

Let me know how it works out, okay? And go to the Art Snob (Arts Nob) blog to rant about artful intentions turned sour.
