After missing seven straight games, and eight overall, with a groin injury, New Jersey Devils center Scott Gomez will be back in the lineup tonight for a road game against the Phoenix Coyotes. So say the Star-Ledger of Newark and The Bergen Record.
Gomez’s healed just in time for a swing that also includes a game Friday in Anaheim and another Monday in LA. And just in time to see his family on the Devils’ annual swing west. Gomez told the papers his mom Dalia and sisters Monica and Natalie are already in California awaiting his arrival. The games in California usually cost Scott some bucks – he has to come up with dozens of tickets for relatives in his extended family.
Gomez, 26, originally hurt his groin Oct. 26 against Florida, missed one game, then came back against the Islanders on Nov. 2 and re-aggravated the injury. Look for him to be back in his customary position centering Brian Gionta and Patrik Elias on the first line, and quarterbacking the first power-play unit from his station on the half-boards.
