All the teams to beat are back -- the Bipolar Bears, the Evil Empire and the brainiacs of Lawyers, Guns & Money. We didn't win, but we made a respectable showing.
Who wrote "Under the Greenwood Tree?" Thomas Hardy! Which Greek nymph vanished only to leave her voice behind? Echo! (And no, we didn't know that, but our educated guess proved correct.)
Alas, we didn't know that Albert Einstein won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1921 or that you can't actually see the Great Wall of China from outer space with the naked eye (who knew?).
The event starts at 8 p.m. but if you plan on attending, it's smart to send at least one team member early to grab a table. This very popular event fills up fast. Your team can consist of as many smarty-pants pals as you can pack around a table. I saw one booth with nine Pub Quizzers smooshed shoulder-to-shoulder. The whole thing is free.
Some menu items have gone up in price since when last season. Worth noting: The much-worshiped Humpy's steak fries are up 50 cents to $2.50 and the smaller-portioned halibut-and-chips appetizer no longer exists. But look for yummy new additions like melty oven-baked sandwiches.
