Intergenerational Arts Contest: Artists of any age throughout Alaska can participate in creating paintings, video, drawing, collages, photography, essays, poems or quilting. $2,000 in cash prizes. Writing Journal: Alaska Women Speak is seeking writing contributions such as feature and informational stories, creative writing, poetry, articles under 1600 words. Submit contribution by Nov. 30. Volunteer opportunities available. (272-8644, alaskawomenspeak.org).
Poetry: The University of Alaska Press is currently seeking poetry to be considered for inclusion in ICE FLOE 2010. Any language, style, or subject matter is welcome. Submit no more than five poems and, if possible, provide English translations when appropriate and a brief paragraph of biographical information, also in English. Contributors will receive one copy of ICE FLOE. Electronic submissions (either in the body of an e-mail message or as an attached MSWord .doc or .rtf file) are preferred and may be sent to icefloe@uaa.alaska.edu. Submissions may also be mailed to: University of Alaska Press, c/o Ice Floe, PO Box 756240, Fairbanks, Alaska 99775-6240. The deadline is January 1, 2010.
