Cold War Kids playing First Tap

The Cold War Kids were slated to open for the White Stripes in Anchorage back in 2007, but the gig was canceled after an announcement that Meg White’s “acute anxiety” was derailing a leg of the tour.

Now, the Kids are ready to rock an Alaska stage on their own. The group is scheduled to play at the Bear Tooth’s First Tap party Feb. 4. Tickets for the 21-and-over show are $35. More info at beartooth.net.

Here’s the video for their song “Hang Me Up To Dry,” one my favorites.

The announcement comes on the heels of last month’s Ghostland Observatory show, a laser-lit derivation from normal First Tap fare. The months leading up to the February show feature traditional selections -- Bay Area rapper Lyrics Born, the roots reggae of Clinton Fearon and the tribal vibes of Rusted Root -- but here’s hoping the Tooth decides to keep putting more progressive acts on the bill.
