Ovechkin's Return Is The Big News, But Former UAA Center Jay Beagle Is Back In The NHL

Just turned on Versus to check out Alexander Ovechkin's return to the NHL from injury and got a nice surprise -- in the starting lineup for Ovechkin's Washington Capitals was none other than former UAA center Jay Beagle.

Tonight is Beagle's first NHL game this season. (UPDATE: He just assisted on Matt Bradley's game-winning goal late in the third period for his first NHL point in the 4-2 Caps win. Beagle logged 10:16 of ice time, fired one shot, won 5 of 9 draws and went +1). Last season, he made his NHL debut with three regular-season games for the Caps and four in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Beagle owns 2-6--8 totals in 17 games this season with Hershey of the American Hockey League.

If you're watching, Beagle wears No. 83.
