Lamoureux Shines In AHL Debut
Former Alaska Aces goaltender Jean-Philippe Lamoureux made his first appearance in the American Hockey League today, and it went like a lot of his games as a rookie last season in the ECHL -- he didn't permit his opponents a sniff.
Lamoureux came on in relief of Jhonas Enrath for the Portland Pirates a little more than halfway through their 4-0 loss to Lowell and stopped all 18 shots he faced in nearly 28 minutes of action.
Lamoureux last season was the ECHL's Goaltender of the Year, set a regular-season record with eight shutouts and backstopped the Aces to the Kelly Cup Finals. In the offseason, he signed an NHL deal with the Buffalo Sabres.
While we're on the subject of the AHL, former UAA Seawolves center Paul Crowder today was held off the score sheet for the first time in four games this season. His Hartford Wolf Pack won 3-2 at Providence. In four games, Crowder owns 1-3--4 totals and a +1 rating.
