Some Things Never Change, Democrats and the Race Card
The most ineffective president of the 20th century thinks opposition to President Barak Obama is racism. Jimmy Carter now joins New York Times columnists Maureen Dowd and Paul Krugman in his assessment.
It is an old Democrat trick when things are not going as planned. Pull out the race card. It is the scare tactic they have used for decades to get a stranglehold on 90% of the African American vote.
Glenn Beck learned a lesson when he tried to use the same strategy. The traditional media quickly let him know that false cries of racism are only allowed from left wing pundits.
Should Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) have cried out, "You lie!" at Obama? No, it was a major breech of decorum. It also was not anything new. The Democrats called George W. Bush a liar almost every word towards the end of his presidency.
It is easy to understand the outrage, but racism? It is an insult to the intelligence of the American people to say such things. Or maybe it is not since there actually seems to be a sizable part of the population that believes this nonsense.
False claims of racism have become the strongest argument for health care reform. Joe Wilson is the poster child. Is there no limit to the dishonesty in debate?
Oddly enough, our culture gave us an interesting counter example this week. Kanye West, a black man and strong Obama supporter, stole the thunder from Taylor Swift, a young white woman at the MTV music awards. It was a despicable act for which there is no excuse.
Obama was caught calling West a "jackass" off the record to his credit. It would have been better if he did it publicly. He certainly had no problem going after the Cambridge Police Department with minimal information.
In addition, the pro-Obama crowd which cheered Russell Brand's anti-American sexually charged sophmoric tirade minutes earlier even booed West.
None of this is enough to properly tweek Mr. West.
What we need to ask is why this action has not been called racist?
Imagine if the award had been given to a young black woman and a white man had gotten up and made a scene. Chances are that man could have joined Michael Richards on entertainment's untouchable list.
Hip-hop music is dominated by racist and sexist lyrics. West is no stranger to controversy and no stranger to firing off in all directions about race. This is not his first outrageous statement or act.
It would be completely reasonable to think his actions were motivated by racism. And yet there is mysterious avoidence of the issue in the media.
The mainstream media worked hard to elect Barak Obama and now they are working hard to protect him at any cost. The race card is only part of the strategy.
ACORN, an organization that Obama once represented as a lawyer, has now been caught allegedly tolerating and even advocating child prostitution. The story would have no legs at all if FOX and the internet did not exist.
The scary part is there are 7 US Senators that have no problem continuing to fund ACORN. Fortunately, both Begich and Murkowski voted the other way. Obama needs to not only condemn ACORN but immediately call for a federal investigation.
The mainstream media is also being dragged kicking and screaming to report on problems with Obama's appointees. Van Jones, the former green jobs czar, made many comments that are borderline racist. Democrats are upset with Joe Wilson and yet they had no problem with this man being in the Obama administration. Really?
Democrats have been arguing that much of the opposition to the health care bill is nothing but a political attack on Obama. It has become all opposition is racism and lies but do not dare to question us as being untruthful. The merits of the plan are no longer being talked about because the public already knows there are almost no merits.
You can argue whether Obama was lying when it comes to covering illegal immigrants in the bill. The proof required to qualify was the issue. It is not dissimilar to the way Obama's friends over at ACORN use similar lack of proof to promote voter fraud. The language is already being changed in the bill to cover Obama's tracks.
One thing Obama is lying about is physician support for his plan. 65% of physicians oppose the plan and 45% would consider quitting if it passes.
There are some good things in this bill and there are some bad things. There is also a plethora of issues not being addressed to appease Democrat puppet masters. The biggest and most profitable of those masters is the trial lawyers.
Change we can believe in? The enemy of better is worse. Obama and the Democrats are about as believable as Kanye West's apology.
